Today I got a ring from this number, but I’m pretty sure it was a scammer pretending to be British Gas. The person on the phone claimed to be from British Gas and wanted to talk to "the business owner". I received a rather dubious call from the number 03332 029514, which claimed to be associated with BG, saying that my mail had bounced back to them. They asked if I still wanted to continue with my maintenance contract. To be honest, I was quite taken aback, as I’ve been out of town and hadn’t even arranged for my boiler service yet. Their command of English was shockingly poor. They provided a number, 03332 098899, for me to ring and sort out an appointment, but I can’t shake the feeling that this is a complete scam. I plan to contact the number listed in a BG letter I received three weeks ago to verify this. How on earth did they know about my maintenance contract with BG? Are the details of my agreement something anyone can access? The call came through on my landline, which is rather alarming.

Got a call saying I owe around £850... then if I took it to the ombudsman, it'd jump to over £1000... they were really rude, pushy and just not helpful. When I asked for the debt details in writing, they said "it takes too long" and insisted they'd only share info over the phone - huge red flag.
