Just got a message asking me if i authorised a payment of £1990 to Apple through hsbe online. It told me to text back ‘y’ if I did, otherwise to call 03330124237 right away. Sounds like a total scam to me, watch out folks!

like the previous messages mentioned, I got a text telling me to confirm an “online payment of £1990,00 to Apple” by replying yes or calling a number. I just ignored it.

I got this weird message saying I’d dropped £1990 in the Apple Store charged on my HSBC card and to ring 03330124237. They never mentioned the card number or anything, which made me quite dubious. After checking online, loads of people had the same texts but directed at Barclays clients. Definitely a scam, no doubt. Honestly, wish I had some kind of digital weapon to blast these scammers back.

Today, I received two rather puzzling messages. The first one notified me about an HSBC-sanctioned online transaction for £1990.00 over at the Apple online shop. A few hours later, I got another message, but this time it was from Barclays instead of HSBC, echoing the same transaction. Quite baffling, to say the least!

I just got a message from 400400_, supposedly from Barclays, inquiring whether I'd authorised a £1990 charge to Apple. It urged me to ring a particular number if I hadn’t approved it. After doing a bit of digging on that number- which bizarrely ended with .nL- I've decided to block it and will notify Barclays about this, just in case they haven’t caught wind of it yet.

Got a text saying it was from Barclays, said there was urgent card fraud and I needed to call right away. The message seemed proper enough, so I rang the number. Ended up waiting on hold for more than an hour! Then I tried a few other Barclays contact numbers I found online, and they said that number wasn’t theirs at all - it was a scam. Felt proper stupid for falling for it.

Got a call claiming to be from HSBC about some money transfer. I looked up the number and it’s actually linked to Vast Energy. When I called back, the voicemail sounded like it was from HSBC online banking support, but it’s definitely a scam trying to get your personal info. Best thing to do is just hang up and don’t answer any questions.

I received a rather alarming text purporting to be from HSBC, inquiring whether I had conducted an online transaction amounting to £900, along with a number to ring. When I dialled the number, I was connected to what was claimed to be HSBC’s online fraud department. A gentleman then proceeded to ask for my online log-in credentials, including my passwords. I expressed my discomfort with divulging such sensitive information, to which he insisted it was necessary to investigate my account for the issue. Upon my refusal yet again, he nonchalantly suggested that I could just pop into a local branch to sort things out. Naturally, I decided to contact HSBC's customer service directly. They assured me that there had been absolutely NO suspicious activity on my account, NO outreach from them to me, and they would NEVER request passwords or log-in details! Clearly, it was an attempt at scamming me!
