Just got a message asking me if i authorised a payment of £1990 to Apple through hsbe online. It told me to text back ‘y’ if I did, otherwise to call 03330124237 right away. Sounds like a total scam to me, watch out folks!

like the previous messages mentioned, I got a text telling me to confirm an “online payment of £1990,00 to Apple” by replying yes or calling a number. I just ignored it.

I got this weird message saying I’d dropped £1990 in the Apple Store charged on my HSBC card and to ring 03330124237. They never mentioned the card number or anything, which made me quite dubious. After checking online, loads of people had the same texts but directed at Barclays clients. Definitely a scam, no doubt. Honestly, wish I had some kind of digital weapon to blast these scammers back.

Today I received a couple of texts that caught my attention. First, it said my online transaction of £1990.00 to the Apple online store was approved by HSBC. Then, just a few hours later, I got an almost identical message, but this time it was from Barclays instead of HSBC. Pretty weird and suspicious if you ask me!

Got a message from 400400_ saying it was Barclays asking if I’d authorised a payment of £1990 to Apple. They told me to ring a number if I didn’t. I checked the number and noticed it ended with .nL, so I’ve blocked it now. I’m also going to inform Barclays about it, in case they don’t know yet.

Got a message from 400400_ saying it was Barclays checking if I okayed a £1990 charge to Apple. It asked me to ring a number if I hadn’t made the purchase. When I checked out the number, it had “.nL” at the end, which seemed dodgy. I've since blocked it and plan on letting Barclays know what’s going on, just in case they haven’t spotted it yet.

Got a text saying it was from Barclays, said there was urgent card fraud and I needed to call right away. The message seemed proper enough, so I rang the number. Ended up waiting on hold for more than an hour! Then I tried a few other Barclays contact numbers I found online, and they said that number wasn’t theirs at all - it was a scam. Felt proper stupid for falling for it.

Got a message claiming to be from ‘Halifax’ about some £900 charge, and it had this number to ring back to confirm it. Decided to look the number up online and saw lots of people saying it’s a scam. Just gave it a miss.

Got a call claiming to be from HSBC about some money transfer. I looked up the number and it’s actually linked to Vast Energy. When I called back, the voicemail sounded like it was from HSBC online banking support, but it’s definitely a scam trying to get your personal info. Best thing to do is just hang up and don’t answer any questions.

Got a text saying it was from HSBC, asking if I’d made a £900 purchase online and to call a number if not. When I rang, I ended up speaking with someone claiming to be from HSBC’s fraud team. He asked for my online banking usernames and passwords. I told him I wasn’t happy sharing that info, but he insisted he needed it to check my account. I still said no, so he just said it was alright and to visit a branch instead. Later, I contacted HSBC customer support myself and they told me there was nothing dodgy on my account, no call had come from them, and they’d never ask for passwords under any circumstances! Definitely a total scam!
