They’ll pull up some info about a debt you might have - or might not - and try to scare you, saying they can storm into your home and take your stuff. Don’t buy it, they’ve got no right to do that. Just tell them to jog on, and if they keep hassling you, ring 999 and report it as ongoing debt harassment making you stressed out. Usually, if you get one of these calls, it means someone probably has a court order against you and you’re none the wiser. If you don’t actually owe the money, these scammers will still give you a warrant number and court details with the name it’s under. Then you can apply to have that warrant cancelled by filling in HMCTS form N245. If money’s tight or you’re on benefits, search for ‘Help With Fees’ on the government site - you might be able to send in the form without paying anything.
