Got a call from a woman up north claiming she wanted to thank me for supporting child safety. She then asked which schools I'd like to receive 32 books. Felt like one of those scams where they try to sell advertising space in fake police community newsletters. Total con.

Like alot of others here, we run a small biz and they claimed we agreed to buy some books - which is totally not true, we never said yes to anything like that.

Watch out, this is definitely a scam!

I just got a call pretty much like the one up there about those books. Should I be ringing the coppers on them or what? Anyone got tips on what’s best to do here?

It was another small company trying to get through to me - good thing I didn’t catch my phone ringing and missed the call.

There’s been this scam around schools leaflets that first reached out to me a few years back, and just recently they got in touch again. They used the phone number 07716 557414 to ring me pretending to be bailiffs supposedly visiting my place because I hadn’t paid for some school books. The bloke was really aggressive, claiming to be from the high court, and even threw out a fake name and bailiff ID. When I called him out, he suddenly started flirting, saying I had a ‘sexy voice’. Honestly, it’s infuriating that people stoop to harassment like this!

At first, I had no idea who was calling, then my phone signal cut out. However, the way they started speaking sounded like one of those usual scam calls, so after checking out the comments here, I just went ahead and blocked the number straight away.

Got a call from a woman named Sam, sounded like she was from Yorkshire or maybe Lancashire, thanking me for joining some school safety programme. She started going on about how well it’s been going, but before she could go any further I told her I hadn’t got a clue what she was talking about, and she just cut me off.

Got a call from a woman asking me to pay up for some books for a school nearby, said I'd promised it. I never said anything like that. Sounds fishy to me!

I nearly fell for this one, it was so believable they almost got me thinking my company had actually agreed to buy books for a nearby school. I decided to look the number up on Google while chatting to them and stumbled across this site!

I got a call from someone claiming I owed money for printing work done for a nearby school, and if I paid straight away, I'd get a discount. It's a scam, nothing real about it.

I contacted a nearby company that asserted they had pledged to cover some printing costs for our school. They provided this number, mentioning that quick payment would secure a discount. I believe this to be a fraudulent scheme.

Received a call today, 16th January, from a woman whose pitch mirrored precisely what Julian Edwards mentioned in his feedback, albeit I was being pursued for £129.00. I informed her that I was completely oblivious to any such debt and had no intention of engaging with an unfamiliar entity. She insisted they had a recording of me expressing interest, to which I countered that merely being interested doesn’t equate to agreeing to pay anything. She mentioned they would investigate further. When I asked for a copy of the recording, she abruptly hung up on me. Upon redialling, I was met with a message indicating I had dialled the wrong number. Clear signs of a scam!

Got a call from someone saying it was a charity asking me to pay for sponsoring books. They said the books would go to local schools, mine was something about child safety awareness, though I think they use different topics too like drug awareness and stuff. The lady who rang was pretty polite and sounded suuuuper convincing, even said she had a recording from a few months ago where I supposedly agreed to sponsor. They seemed to have done their homework too, knew loads about my small business, so it felt a bit more legit than your usual scams. But yeah, definitely a scam in the end.

I've been getting calls from this mysterious number for the past three days straight. Each time, my phone rings thrice before the caller hangs up. Quite frustrating, I must say! - Richard
