So I told the caller from 02 that I'd have a look at my bill since I actually work there, and right after that, she just ended the call.

Got a call saying my bill with 02 is late and they'll cut off my data if I don’t sort it. I just ended the call - never had a contract with 02 anyway.

Recently, I had an unexpected call from a chap claiming to be from O2, trying to entice me with a supposedly brilliant 40% reduction on my mobile plan. Now, I do indeed have an O2 contract, and I must say, a discount like that would have been absolutely brilliant if it were legitimate. However, it quickly became clear that this wasn’t the real deal. In fact, it was nothing more than a bunch of con artists trying their luck!

It's clearly a trick to get you to sign up with O2 and then steal your personal info. Total scam if you ask me.

Got a call from 0330 390 3429, they said they’re from O2 and that I’ve been selected to cut down my bill. Sounded a bit dodgy to me.

rang me up claiming i could get 40% off, but it all felt dodgy from the start. when i said it sounded a bit like a scam, he just laughed and told me to call the number back. i told him i’d just look up O2's actual contact and ring them instead - then he just cut me off. definitely a scam, no doubt about it.

this morning i got a call saying they were from o2 and could cut my phone bill by 40% as i’m supposedly a current customer. problem is, i haven’t been with o2 for nearly two decades, so it seemed fishy right away. when i asked who was actually calling, they wouldn’t give a straight answer and just kept saying “hang on, i’ll try to put you through.” feels like some dodgy scam to me.

I got a call claiming to be from my mobile network. I told them I didn’t know the number they were calling from. They said they were from the promotions team of this big phone company, offering me a 40% discount on my contract without needing any personal info. I was a bit bored and curious, so I asked how the deal worked. They said they’d send me two texts to verify my account, and wanted to confirm the code in the second message. What they didn’t realise is I’d previously forgotten my password and used those texts before for a reset. So I figured someone was trying to trick me into handing over a code so they could access my account - no chance! To keep them talking, when they asked for the code, I said I couldn’t because the text warned never to share the code with anyone, even staff. They sounded pretty annoyed but stayed polite, explaining they couldn’t give me the discount if they couldn’t verify me, and that the text warning was to stop scams like this. I told them I’m very strict about rules and couldn’t share the code. Then I suggested maybe their promotions team should rethink how they word those texts. We went round in circles for a bit! I’m flagging this because it seemed like a well-executed scam that could fool many, and the caller was both pushy and courteous. They said I’d get a formal letter about the offer soon, but I stayed firm. Honestly, it was a rather entertaining break from my day! I bet scammers find me impossible to fool!
