I made it crystal clear that I wasn’t keen on chatting any further, especially since they refused to rectify the mess they’d caused and instead tried to shift the blame onto me. Absolute nonsense! Its shocking how many folks just blabber back info when cold called. Best just say nothing. Instead, you should be the one asking: who’s this? What’s the purpose? How’d you get this number? If they say they’re from a company you actually deal with, dont trust them - hang up and call the company using the contact details on your official website or statement. Scammers fake legit numbers all the time. So this number may be real, but the person ringing might very well be fake.

Called by someone claiming to be from Virgin Media or a company linked to them. They already knew I'd recently contacted Virgin about my internet. They even mentioned my address to prove it. Then they put me through to Virgin to arrange an engineer visit. They asked for the 1st, 9th and 10th digits of my password for security, plus my phone number in case the engineer needed to get in touch. Engineer appointment made for six days later. Fingers crossed it really was Virgin, otherwise that was one hell of a scam!
