Received a dubious text message that claims to be from HSBC, including a one-time passcode for a transaction I definitely didn’t ask for. I don’t even bank with them! This is likely a phishing attempt - be cautious, everyone!

Got a text claiming to be from HSBCUK with a one-time password, saying I’d made a payment of £457.38 to a Mrs J Adams, to an RBS account. The message said if it wasn’t me, ring their fraud hotline on 03301900232. I don’t even have an HSBC account so figured it’s a scam. I looked up the number on who-called and found it’s been flagged before by others.

Has anyone else answered a call from this number? We got a message about a delivery but when I tried to respond, there was nothing on the other end. Really strange.

Got a text claiming to be from HSBUK, saying there was a one-time passcode for a payment I supposedly made. Problem is, I never made any payment or knew who it was for. The message went on to say if I didn’t request it, I should ring the fraud team on 03301900232. Of course I didn’t bother calling - it’s clear this was just another scam trying to catch people out.
