Over the past few weeks I've been getting calls from this number and others similar to it. It all started after I dealt with BT’s Customer Service through their email and chat support, where they ask for your mobile number. The people calling sound like they’re all in some big call centre in India, and they claim to be BT staff. Before anyone says “it could be anyone,” that’s not true. I don’t hand out my number to just anyone, and I know exactly who’s got it. The latest place I gave it to was BT, the Estate agent was months before that. - Caller: Unknown - I didn’t pick up.

Absolute scammers, they never say what company they’re from, the address they give is a complete fake, and they won’t own up to the fact they’re cold calling. Honestly, they seem to lie through their teeth. I’m not even convinced they’re actually here in the UK because most of the people on the other end sound like they’re abroad. Somebody rang me just now claiming I’d been in a crash and it wasn’t my fault. I told them that was rubbish, and then they said “That’s odd, your name’s on the national motoring stats,” or something like that. I got a call on my mobile from someone claiming they knew about a car accident I’d supposedly had, which is complete nonsense. When I asked where they got the info, the woman said it was from some Traffic Accident Stats department. I told her straight up she was making it up and why would I trust a company that lies and just hung up. Later, I rang them back using a blocked number to make a complaint about their staff lying. They call themselves ‘Action Claims Bureau’. The man I spoke to said the manager, Martin Lawrence, was busy, and gave me their address as 27 Old Gloucester Street in London - sounded dodgy to me. He insisted they don’t buy phone numbers and claimed their info came from the Road Traffic Accident Department, which is clearly another fib. It’s so frustrating these companies waste time and aren’t honest. Just to add to what I said earlier about the car crash scam, the place they mentioned is actually a 'virtual office'. You basically pay to have mail sent there, and they either send it on or email you scans of it. The caller was from something called Action Claims Bureau.
