Somebody called pretending to be from Microsoft, telling me with a robotic voice and on the screen that turning off my computer before calling them could make me lose my files. Totally sounded dodgy to me.

I got a call from someone saying they were from Microsoft, warning me that my computer was about to get hacked. They then tried to convince me to install an app and wanted to take control of my PC remotely to ‘fix’ it. Definitely sounded like a scam to me! Be careful and don’t get tricked by calls like this!

A friend of mine was browsing a furniture site when suddenly a popup showed up saying their PC was blocked by Windows Defender. Turns out it was definitely a scam. They just closed the browser and restarted it, then everything was back to normal. I'd say avoid calling any numbers they show - it's almost certainly a rip off!
