Received a call trying to trick me with some TV licence scam. Pretty obvious it was a rip-off.

This number has been bothering us for ages, and we even got letters through the post from them. I called up and got put through to a woman who sounded like she was from India. She asked me for some part of my credit card number, so I only gave her the first and last four digits, plus the expiry date. Now, they've sent a letter asking for even more details. Since then, they've been pushing for my full card number and bank details, but I'm just choosing to ignore it all.

I got a letter through my door claiming to be from TV Licensing, and it had this phone number on it. The info in the letter was totally false, so it's obvious they're trying to scam people.

Got a letter that looked like it was from TV Licensing about applying for a free over 75 licence. Problem was, I’d already heard back from them about a week earlier. This new letter was questioning the age I’d stated. They included this number plus 08081968174 as phone contacts.

Totally a scam. Got an email with this number claiming I'd get a refund. Problem is, there's no refund coming my way, so watch out. They might even say you've got a rich uncle from Nigeria ready to send you cash. They’ll ask for your bank info - whatever you do, don’t give it! It’s a con, plain and simple.

Got a letter saying I hadn’t paid my TV licence even tho I pay it every month by direct debit. When I looked up the TV licence number they gave, the numbers didn’t match mine at all. Pretty fishy if you ask me.

Got a letter that seemed to be from TV Licensing, so called back on that number. Some bloke with a thick Yorkshire accent answered, but then they played a fake hold music at one point. When he asked for bank details, I knew straight away it was a scam. 0300 790 6087 - full of conmen, crooks, and utter dirtbags.

Got a letter that looked proper from 'TV Licensing' saying they’d tried to reach me but the letter came back marked ‘gone away’. It mentioned something about account payments and changing amounts, telling me to call a number they provided. Problem is, I never got any letter like that before. Turns out it’s not really TV Licensing - they use similar, but totally different numbers. Definitely a scam, watch out!

I got a letter from TV Licensing saying my payment didn’t go through because of some tech issue, so my TV licence got cancelled from the day on the letter? Bit strange, surely it should’ve ended when my old one actually expired? They told me to check their official site, where I found out I can’t renew yet as there’s still like four months left on it. The letter also gave me a phone number to call instead though. 27

Got this email claiming to be from TV Licensing, thanking me for reaching out. Thing is, I never gave them any info or contacted them first. Felt a bit dodgy especially since the only thing I’d done recently was send a complaint to the BBC about the TV licence fees and that charge for over 75s. Definitely smells like a scam if you ask me.

Took a bit before anyone picked up when I answered. A bloke with an Indian accent said he was from BT's tech support, but as soon as I stayed quiet, he just ended the call.
