Got a call today at around 5:08pm on my home phone from 03002003884. The bloke said it was HMRC with some sort of problem and told me to ring back on 03003227840 to sort it out. I checked with HMRC myself and there’s no issue at all. Pretty sure this is a spoofed number pretending to be HMRC. Definitely not going to call them back. Be careful, this looks dodgy and could be a scam!

We've had dealings with these lot a while back and honestly, they're proper awful. They've stepped up their tactics lately, so you've got to watch out more than ever. They've even added some warnings about scams on the back of their letters, and now they’re slipping HMRC logos onto the envelopes to make it look legit!

This lady claimed she was from HMRC and wanted my details. I didn’t have my NINO on me, so she just moved on without it. That’s when i got suspicious and looked up the number. Luckily, it was a scam. Got a call from HMRC asking for the director of xxxx company without actually naming anyone. I told them I’d give the message to my son and asked which department it was about, but they said it was confidential. Since my son hasn’t lived here for over 14 years, I’d have thought HMRC would have more recent details. Yesterday, I got a call from 0300 2003830 with the same story. Yesterday it was a lady with an oriental accent, and today a Scottish lady. Both said the call needed to be returned by 5 pm. I’m pretty sure HMRC would know exactly who they’re trying to reach.

Got a call from someone claiming to be HMRC about unpaid corporation tax. We’ve already sorted ours and told them our accountants would be in touch. They seemed dodgy and made our Finance Manager quite suspicious. They also sent a letter that looked proper. We double checked the phone number and ended up on this site. Got a voicemail from someone claiming to be from the HMRC VAT enforcement team. I rang them back and they sounded pretty convincing. They told me I owed £64,000 and needed to arrange payments.
