03003227835 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 03003227835 👆 is reported as a conflicting number associated with HMRC’s Simple Assessment payments. While the official government website lists it as genuine, numerous users warn it is frequently spoofed by scammers sending convincing letters demanding overdue tax payments, often referencing past years or fictitious debts. Many recipients with no outstanding tax have received aggressive calls or threatening letters bearing this number, sometimes including accurate personal details, increasing the difficulty identifying fraud. Users strongly advise verifying any claims directly through the official HMRC contact channels - not using numbers or links from unsolicited correspondence. Genuine HMRC calls typically come from withheld numbers, and the department does not use bailiffs but may adjust tax codes. Exercise caution, report suspicious communications, and rely on official government websites for payment or enquiries.

This number popped up in a letter I got saying I supposedly owe some tax money, but when I checked with the app, it says I don’t owe a thing. Bit confusing really.

Heads up! This number really belongs to HMRC, but scammers often fake it just like they do with genuine bank numbers. HMRC won't ring you unless you've been in touch with them first. Make sure to read through all the comments below. Also, keep in mind that some dishonest scammers and even some confused folks with mental issues sometimes post bogus 'safe' reviews for scam numbers or false scam alerts for legit ones on here. Stay sharp!

Spotted this on the HMRC site: Letter IDMS99P relates to Simple Assessment. Basically, if you owe money on your Simple Assessment tax, HMRC will send you a letter letting you know about the overdue payment. The letter includes details like: - ways you can settle the bill - if you’re not able to pay everything at once, to ring HMRC on 0300 322 7835 - the consequences if you don’t pay or get in touch within 28 days after getting the letter Definitely don’t just ignore it!

I got a letter with the number 03003227835 on it, saying I owed tax money. But I’d already paid it! The letter looked so much like one from the Revenue, I nearly got tricked. Luckily, I checked my bank records and saw the payment was done, so I dodged the scam.

Got two separate letters asking for payment on old simple assessment taxes from years ago. I’m certain I’ve paid all my taxes, plus I retired 8 years back so everything should be fine. The letters look super legit and proper official, I imagine loads of folks might get worried and just cough up. Also, my tax office is in Newcastle, not Bristol like the letters say.

Got a letter from these lot claiming I owed more than £650. I called my accountant to check, and they said it was a scam and that my tax was all sorted with no money owed. I sent them a photo of the letter, and they passed it on to the actual HMRC to look into. I can’t help but wonder how many folks have been tricked and paid up. Like someone else mentioned, HMRC don’t send bailiffs out - they just tweak your tax code the next year. Also looked up the postcode on the envelope, and it doesn’t show up on Royal Mail’s system at all.

I got a letter claiming I owed money for the 2016-17 tax year, mentioning a 'simple assessment' they said they recently sent me - but I never got it. Feeling a bit iffy about it all, I rang HMRC on 0300 200 3500 to check. They confirmed the letter was real but admitted it was sent by mistake. They said the simple assessment had been posted out too, but from what I’ve seen, stuff often gets lost with how messy the postal service is these days.

I received a missed call from this number, so I decided to ring them back. A gentleman picked up, but his accent was so thick I couldn't make out a word he said before he hung up on me. Sorry about my previous message. I've just checked and this number seems legit on the HMRC website. If you head over to gov.uk and look up ‘Letter IDMS99P - Simple Assessment’, you’ll see it mentioned. Also, HMRC clearly says ‘You must not ignore the letter’, so it’s definitely important.

I just got a letter demanding £680 in tax from 'HMRC', threatening that a debt collector will be sent if I don't pay. The letter looked really official, with proper letterhead and all. But it didn’t add up because I already got my Tax Calculation late last year and just received my new Tax Code for this year. To be sure, I checked my details on the real HMRC website and nothing was wrong. Luckily, finding this site helped me see that the phone number they gave is totally fake!

I've just had eye surgery and couldn’t make out the letter myself, but luckily a relative, who knows these things better, took one look and said it’s definitely a scam. After doing some digging, I’m fully certain it’s just a trick playing on people’s fear of the tax authorities. If the tax people know about this, which they surely do, they’ve got the means to stop it and should act straight away. The letter mentions debt collectors and ruining your credit score, so it’s really intimidating stuff. I’m 80 years old and have been paying my taxes faithfully for over six decades.

I wasn’t entirely sure if this was genuine, so I rang the official contact from the HMRC website to check. They were after some old debts that might not even be valid, so I’d say don’t just brush it off! When unsure, it’s best to do what I did and use the authorised HMRC number to confirm.

I got a letter that looked proper, saying I was owed tax money from 2018, something like £1250. I honestly thought it seemed off. I looked up the number they gave and found out it was a scam. The letter arrived in one of those brown envelopes you’d think comes from the tax office. Luckily, I didn’t call them - wouldn’t want to deal with those con artists. Watch out for these fake official letters, they’re tricking people big time. I'm really glad I spotted the scam and shredded the letter right away. I should probably report it as well.

Like many others have mentioned, I got a letter that looked pretty real saying I owed money after some sort of assessment. Thing is, it didn’t come with any payment details or paperwork. Scammers might mess with the numbers they show, but I actually received a letter myself. Before I rang the number on it, I had a look at my personal tax account and found out I really did owe some straightforward assessment fees that had slipped my mind. If you get a call or even a letter about this sort of thing, it’s a good idea to double check your personal tax account.

We got a letter just like that one shown here. We have no intention of paying. Does anyone know how I can make the letters stop? Who should I report this to? The phone number listed is 03002003310 and they say they're from HMRC, saying we owe them money. Mr Emes

I keep receiving letters from the Simple Assessment team stating that I have outstanding payments to make. The letters contain the phone number 0300 322 7835. Upon calling this number, I have had two experiences where I had to wait for over an hour to be connected, only to be abruptly disconnected when I tried to arrange a payment plan. It seemed like they weren't interested in setting up a schedule and instead insisted on full payment. On top of this, the person I spoke to became impatient and momentarily lost his Scottish accent, which made me question if this could be a scam. The most recent letter is now threatening to involve debt collectors. At this point, I'm not sure what to believe. Interestingly, the new letter still displays the same 0300 322 7835 contact number.

I recently received a rather unsettling letter from HMRC, demanding that I pay £758 two months ahead of schedule. To add to my concern, I was given a refund of £790 by HMRC last year, and it's become impossible for me to find a job. This individual seems to possess some of my personal information, as well as the contents of the letter. The number I’m dealing with is 0300 322 7835. When I rang them, they queried me about some charges related to hotels during my time of employment, which I found rather peculiar. I'm struggling to trust what they’re saying, so I’ve requested a detailed breakdown of these costs. Is it possible that there are scammers masquerading as government officials?

Just got a letter through, looked like a rubbish photocopy, claiming I owe cash for some ‘overdue SIMPLE assessment’ and that they’d tried to contact me before with no answer… which is complete rubbish! I got a letter not long ago claiming I owed money to HMRC, but that’s not right as I actually got a refund this year because I paid too much tax. The letter talked about something called 'Simple Assessment' PA302, which is meant for people who are self-employed - I’m definitely not self-employed! They even gave a Barclays Bank account number 63464695 with sort code 11-47 to send the money to, but that’s nothing like the bank info HMRC actually uses. Honestly, this is a scam so don’t send them anything!

I got a letter saying I owe £400 and if I don’t pay, I’ll be taken to court. The number they gave me to call is 03003227835. The letter looks really legit and even mentions my national insurance number. Could this be a scam? It’s making me worried.

The number mentioned in these scam letters does not match up. Just because you received a genuine letter notifying you of a debt to the taxman doesn't change the fact that there is indeed a fraudulent scheme causing many people to fall victim. It is worth considering that there might be another parallel universe where people exist alongside those from your own universe.

I received another letter from a supposed HMRC, asking for money. The number 03003227835 has been previously reported as a scam. The taxpaying public should know the name(s) of those responsible for this. Somebody deserves to be fired or, at the very least, brought before members of Parliament to explain their poor performance in doing their job. These individuals are profiting from the suffering of others. I can't help but feel frustrated and angry as I type this lengthy rant. Very little is being done by those who are responsible for addressing these criminals. I wonder how many people fell for it and were taken advantage of. A P45 is surely in the mail for them.

BEWARE - THIS IS DEFINITELY A SCAM. They’re pretending to be HMRC but are just trying to con people out of money. They’re really good at making it look genuine. I got two letters with my National Insurance number on them, supposedly from HMRC. After checking with the real HMRC, turns out I don’t owe a penny. Since I ignored those letters, now I’ve received another fake letter from a ‘collection agency’ insisting I pay up. I’m going to report this to the police, HMRC’s fraud team, and the National Insurance folks for fraud. Please stay very cautious!

I recently got a rather persuasive letter from HMRC regarding self-assessment, claiming that I owed a hefty sum. I must admit, my instincts kicked in quite swiftly since my earnings haven’t reached the tax threshold. Beware of this telephone number; it's nothing but a ruse. I received correspondence pretending to be from HMRC, yet it's painfully obvious it's a fraud. Alarmingly, the con artist is also posting on this site, insisting that this number is legitimate. Please, refrain from dialling any numbers provided in letters! Even if they mention your national insurance details, it's best to remain cautious. Always visit the official HMRC website to retrieve contact information directly from there. And for goodness' sake, steer clear of Google ads; they can lead you astray. Stick to the genuine site for getting in touch with HMRC!

Upon reading various comments, I was sincerely hoping that this was merely a scam. However, I decided to confirm and rang the authentic HMRC number listed on their official website. I've gotten this letter four times now. Had a look at my HMRC account and I can confirm I don't owe anything at all. If I had underpaid my taxes, they’d have made the necessary adjustments to my salary to sort it out. I looked up this number and found that it really belongs to HMRC. However, there have been fraudsters faking this exact number, ringing folks up with threats about unpaid tax and pushing them to pay on the spot. So if you get a call from 0300 322 7835 claiming to be HMRC, don’t give them any info straight away. Instead, ask for a reference and say you’ll call back to check it's legit before you do anything. That way, you can be sure you’re dealing with the actual tax office, not some scammers.

I recently received a rather convincing LETTER from HMRC, rather than a phone call, and it got me quite worried. Naturally, I decided to log into my online HMRC account to investigate further. To my surprise, there were no signs of any Simple Assessments, nor did I owe them anything. What’s particularly troubling, however, is that they have my correct National Insurance number! I urge anyone who encounters something similar to report it to Action Fraud promptly. They might be able to look into the matter, especially if they can cross-reference the Bank Account Number!

Received a letter today containing a straightforward evaluation with this particular number... This appears to be a scam, as the bank details on the payment slip do not match those of HMRC.

I received a rather straightforward letter today stating that they’d previously contacted me regarding a breakdown and that I’ve not replied yet. They’re now urging me to make a payment using the enclosed slip. Quite concerning, I've sent photos of this letter over to HMRC’s phishing team for their review. What’s particularly troubling is how they managed to obtain my National Insurance number in the first place!

This letter seems fraudulent. Every correspondence I have ever received from HMRC includes my full name, with my middle name included; however, this letter does not. Furthermore, the alleged amount that they claim I owe is exorbitant. Additionally, numerous individuals have reported the phone number associated with this letter as counterfeit on various websites.

Rest assured, this is not a fraudulent scheme. I contacted the helpline at 0300 200 3300, and they assisted me in clearing up any confusion regarding my Simple Assessment Statement. They advised me to refrain from relying on Google search results and encouraged direct access to the government's official website. By visiting the designated website, you can conveniently make your payment. Please ensure you have your Gateway login and two valid forms of identification to proceed through the official channels.

I received a genuine letter from HMRC, but I'm a bit puzzled about the phone number listed on it. I reached out to HMRC using the contact details from their official website and verified that I have an outstanding balance of £800 from a prior tax year. It's wise to get in touch with HMRC directly for confirmation. There's a bit of panic among some users here, but my findings align with what's stated.

The provided number is indeed fraudulent. Following my conversation with HMRC, it is evident that this number has no trace within their system records. Furthermore, the statement of liabilities I received was in an incorrect format. According to HMRC, there are no outstanding debts or obligations on my behalf, hence confirming that this letter and number are part of a scam. We must be wary of relying on reviews declaring its authenticity, as they originate from the scammers themselves.

I have verified and contacted HMRC, and it seems that the letter I received is indeed accurate. According to the letter, I do have an outstanding payment, and the phone number provided is 0300 322 7835. This call is to settle the bill for my simple assessment. The letter should contain a detailed breakdown of the amount owed. It is possible that the reason for this owed amount is related to claiming the marriage allowance. Unfortunately, many individuals have been deceived by it.

I recently received a letter regarding outstanding taxes through the Simple Assessment system. Initially, I had doubts about its authenticity as I read some negative comments and checked caller ID websites. However, to be on the safe side, I decided to contact the income tax helpline mentioned on the official gov.uk website, which is "0300 200 3300". After speaking with them, I confirmed that the letter did indeed come from HMRC and was not a scam. During my investigation, I also discovered that HMRC will only contact you using a "withheld number," so if you receive calls from a number like 0300 322 7835 appearing on your caller ID, it is likely to be a scam. My advice to anyone who has received this letter is to contact the telephone number provided on the gov.uk website. Furthermore, ensure that you request a complete breakdown of the alleged amount owed and verify if there have been any changes in your tax code for previous years where tax has been paid.

I recently got my hands on a rather unsettling tax letter from what's known as a Simple Assessment. A bit of digging around revealed that this correspondence is indeed genuine and not a ruse. Initially, I had my doubts, especially after reading various comments on this and other caller ID forums. Just to put my mind at ease, I reached out to the income tax helpline, which can be found on gov.uk at "0300 200 3300", and they confirmed that it was legitimately from HMRC. An interesting tidbit I discovered is that HMRC only contacts individuals using a number that appears as 'withheld', meaning any calls with ID masquerading as 0300 322 7835 are quite likely to be dodgy. I would strongly recommend that anyone who has received this particular letter reach out to the number listed on gov.uk for clarification. Furthermore, it’s prudent to request a comprehensive breakdown of the charges and verify whether your tax code has shifted in subsequent years for the amount that’s claimed to be owed.

I must admit, I was rather sceptical at first, but after ringing the official government number, my concerns were put to rest. What it boils down to is that these are indeed taxable benefits reported via the P11D form - they’re distinct from regular income tax obligations. You won’t find it on the government gateway, unfortunately. So, it seems there’s no dodgy business here; it’s a real case of underpayment, much to my chagrin.

I received a rather alarming letter stating that I owe £2250, so I decided to call the number, 0300 322 7835, referenced in the correspondence. When I spoke to the automated voice, I made it clear that I was eager to settle the outstanding balance but requested a detailed breakdown of the charges, as that was missing from the letter. To my surprise, the person on the line informed me that I would only get this information once I had made the payment. Things escalated when I mentioned that their website didn't reflect any outstanding amount against my name; the individual on the other end became quite flustered. I suggested I would handle the payment online, which prompted him to provide me with bank account details instead, insisting on an immediate transaction. I reminded him that my letter had a payment slip attached, yet he persisted in pushing for instant payment through the information he offered. When I inquired about why my account balance wasn’t visible online, he claimed that it could take up to three weeks after a letter is issued for it to show up. I decided it would be wise to wait for that information to manifest before making any payments. Just to clarify, I have already contacted HMRC, and to my relief, they confirmed that there’s nothing owed on my part, and that this number is not associated with them at all.

Beware of this deceitful scheme! You may receive a letter posing as an official communication from HMRC, claiming that you have inadvertently not paid the correct amount of tax in a recent assessment and including your national insurance number. The phone number provided is, in fact, a fraudulent one. After verifying with HMRC, I can definitively confirm that this is a scam. I urge you to exercise extreme caution, as the scammers are also posting misleading comments on various websites, asserting that the phone number is genuine. This couldn't be further from the truth. Do not fall victim to this scam.

I appreciate you sharing this insight. My 95-year-old neighbour recently fell victim to a similar scheme and ended up sending money. It’s definitely a scam! The payment was directed to an A O SHIPLEY, which has no connection whatsoever to HMRC. I contacted HMRC directly, and they confirmed they know about this scam. Just a heads up, the letter includes an authentic national insurance number, which can make spotting the scam even trickier than usual. Stay vigilant!

A family member of mine received a correspondence featuring this number, claiming they owed a whopping £2764. Upon ringing the number, they were met with a rather forceful demand to settle the debt immediately, or face legal action. After digging a bit deeper, it’s abundantly clear that this number is in no way linked to HMRC, despite the fact that the “0300” digits might resemble their official format. Moreover, the banking details provided in the letter don’t correspond at all with what HMRC specifies on their official website. I wouldn’t recommend taking this claim seriously; for peace of mind, it's best to reach out to HMRC directly using a contact number from their .gov site.

I recently got a letter claiming I owed £2250.00 for an overdue simple self-assessment. The number they provided was 0300 322 7835, so I rang them up and fed them a complete load of nonsense-made-up name, fake NI number, fictitious postcode, the lot. The bloke on the other end seemed really flustered and claimed he couldn't verify my identity. In the end, he just cut me off. Then, bizarrely, I called again and found I was speaking to the same chap! When does that ever happen? I simply said, "Apologies, wrong number," and hung up while he was still trying to salvage the conversation. Clearly, it’s a scam!

I received a message from a certain number purporting to be from the HMRC. I received a correspondence linked to a phone number purporting to be from "HMR," alleging that I had an outstanding tax balance from a previous year. It mentioned something about a Simple Assessment IT. I attempted to ring the number provided, however, it was after hours - they mentioned being closed until 9 the next morning. I couldn’t shake off my doubts regarding the legitimacy of the letter; the reference number seemed completely off from what one might expect from HMRC. Alarmingly, it did include my National Insurance number. I have my own HMRC gateway account, and it clearly shows that I have no tax owing from prior years, especially since I received a tax rebate back in October. While the letter had a convincing appearance, the phone number (03003227835) stood out as suspicious; it's not the number typically recommended for HMRC tax inquiries. While the rest of the contact information seemed standard, the accompanying statement of liabilities was poorly presented - it just listed the amount owed and the tax year, along with a payment slip for remitting a cheque, without any breakdown of how that sum was calculated. I've forwarded a copy of the letter to HMRC's fraud department. Just a heads up, this one’s definitely a scam.

I recently received a letter purporting to be from HMRC, stating that I owed some overdue tax and prompted me to ring 0300 322 7835 to discuss ways to settle the payment. I chose not to make the call. The correspondence seemed quite authentic, but considering I had received a tax refund from HMRC just a month prior, it raised my suspicions! Definitely a number to steer clear of and potentially report.
