Got a call claiming to be from HMRC about some scam, but I just blocked and deleted the number straight away. Feels like this could be really harmful, especially if an older or vulnerable person picks up the phone.

I've had this exact number ring me up twice already, saying there's some kind of tax fraud case against me. They kept telling me to press 1 straight away or else I'd be arrested. It's mad how they're allowed to get away with this kind of thing!

Dodgy crooks, definitely a scam! Loads of those 0300 numbers sound exactly the same, so I just block every one of them when they ring me. I’ve got BT Call Protect (no affiliate or anything, just saying it’s free). You can add extra features if you want, but basically, if you get a dodgy call, you just dial 1572 and press ‘1’ then ‘1’ again to report it. It’s pretty simple and you can do it online too after checking the number. I really despise these scumbags who make these fraudulent calls.

Watch out! Someone called saying I was caught up in tax fraud and if I didn’t hit 1 they’d have a warrant and cops would be after me soon.

Got a call from a bloke who didn’t speak much English, said he was from HMRC. He asked if I’d got any letters from them ’cause they’d been trying to reach me. Knew my name and address, which was a bit worrying. When he asked again about the letters, I told him I hadn’t seen any. Then he wanted me to call the local office, but I refused and asked for my NI number instead. He gave me a number that wasn’t mine, so I told him it was wrong and then he suddenly hung up.

If you receive a text supposedly from HMRC saying you've got a tax refund and asking for your personal or financial info, just ignore it. Don’t click on any links they send you. It’s best not to respond at all.

Got a call from some supposed HMRC bloke called Tommy, who had a thick Indian accent. He kept threatening me with jail time if I didn’t cough up taxes over the phone. What a load of rubbish! Honestly, I can see how some folks might get scared and fall for this trick. It was pretty nerve-wracking, I won’t lie. I’ve blocked the number straight away - definitely a scam. Make sure to report these muppets so others don’t get caught out!

Sometimes, I get calls claiming I’m due a tax refund and then they try to get my bank details or credit card info. If you’re not sure who’s calling, it’s best to just hang up and not give them anything. Better safe than sorry!
