Got a call claiming to be from HMRC about tax fraud, sounded fishy as hell. They tried to scare me into handing over personal info, but I knew it was bogus. Definitely a dodgy scam, watch out!

I've been getting these calls for quite some time now. After the first one, I decided to ring HMRC and they told me they already knew about this scam going around! Seems like it’s been happening for ages.

I chose not to pick up, and now after a quick search, I'm really relieved I didn't.

Got a recorded call supposedly from HMRC saying there’s a tax fraud case against me, and if I don’t press 1, I’d be arrested. Obviously, I blocked the number straight away and also reported it to HMRC.

I hit one when they asked, but as soon as I told them I wasn’t working right now, they just ended the call!

I haven’t picked up the call, but after reading all these reviews, I’m getting really worried. Is this for sure some kind of scam?

Got a call with the same automated message loads of people have mentioned. When I pressed 1, it supposedly connected me to an HMRC investigator (sure, like that’s real!) who asked to verify my private details, starting with my address, to prove I wasn’t some kind of fraudster. I told her I wasn’t sharing anything since I couldn’t be sure she wasn’t the scammer. The rude tone she gave back totally convinced me this was a fake HMRC call. It’s a total scam, really hope no one gets caught out by this!

I got a robocall from someone claiming to be HMRC saying there's fraud tied to me. They warned me that if I didn’t hit 1 to respond, they’d send a warrant to arrest me. Definitely sounded dodgy!

So my mum, who’s quite old, got one of those robo calls saying something about HMRC fraud and if she didn’t press 1 there’d be an arrest warrant. She hit 1 and got connected to some woman with a funny accent who claimed she checked their ‘database’ and the fraud bit was real. Luckily, mum got a bit mad and told her off, then the woman just ended the call.
