Over the last few days, I’ve had a couple of calls from what looked like official HMRC 0300 numbers, but they were dodgy as anything. The first two times, they were all “urgent” and asked me to press 1 to talk to someone. Today, the caller went even further, threatening me with arrest and telling me to hit 4 to pay up. I rang HMRC myself straight away and they confirmed they hadn’t called me at all and that no arrest was happening. Absolute scammers trying to trick people into handing over their bank details!

I picked up a call only to be met with a pre-recorded message claiming to be from the tax office. The message urged me to press 1 to speak with someone about the matter, threatening that if I didn’t, warrants would be issued for my arrest immediately. It's baffling how they can threaten someone with arrest without even identifying who they are calling! I have absolutely no tax issues to worry about.

Today, I got a call from this number claiming to be from some government tax fraud department. They told me my number was flagged for fraud and asked me to press 1 to verify my identity. I did as they said and then the call just dropped. Sounds like a scam to me, but I’m not sure who to report it to. The caller ID said 98560LNR, and weirdly, they already seemed to know my name and where I live before hanging up... Anyone else got this? The caller said their name was Haris.

Total scam! Someone said they were from HMRC warning me about a fraud case with my name on it. They said if I didn't press 1, I'd get arrested super soon 😂 absolutely ridiculous.

They said to press 1 to confirm it was me, so I did, but then the call cut off straight away. Feels dodgy to me, is this a scam? Not sure who to tell about it though?
