Got a dodgy automated call from someone claiming to be HMRC, saying I was being investigated for fraud. They wanted me to speak to a "fraud officer." What’s sneaky is the phone number they used looks totally genuine if you Google it. Pretty clever trick, if you ask me.

He wanted me to pay up straight away and then organise a direct debit for the rest. I told him to call back around noon tomorrow. I got a call from some automated voice saying I was being looked at for fraud. Then they put me through to some “officer” who wanted to check my home address. I told them to send me a letter first before sharing any info. After that, they just cut the call out of nowhere.

This call is clearly a scam and can really scare older people or those who are vulnerable. The people behind these calls should feel properly bad. My young son heard the conversation and got really distressed, thinking his mum was going to jail and he’d end up in a care home. It was quite a frightening experience!
