Got a call from a recorded message saying I owed money to HMRC and to press 1. Did not answer it properly, seemed like a scam to me.

I picked up the phone to find it was a recorded message claiming to be from Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs, insisting my name had been linked to fraudulent activity. They urged me to hit 3 if I wanted to chat with an officer. I decided it was best to just hang up instead.

Got a call earlier on 8/2/2019, turned out to be a total scam. Just a heads up, don’t follow their instructions and seriously consider hanging up or cutting off the call.

Make sure you avoid pressing 1 at all costs - I didn’t do it myself, but I’m pretty certain that if you did, it’d be a nightmare, definitely one of those dodgy scams.

Totally dodgy calls, all scams surely.

This number rang me twice in one day and I’m convinced it’s a scam. Just don’t answer or press any buttons, especially not 1. Best to just hang up straight away.

Got a robo call from HMIC saying I'm being investigated and if I don't call back right away, they'll issue an arrest warrant. Total scam, don't fall for it!

Good thing I didn’t pick up when this number rang. Judging by what others have said, I’m pretty relieved I gave it a miss. A few weeks back, someone called me with pretty much the same scam, but I managed to keep them chatting long enough for them to mess up their story. After that, they ended the call immediately. Honestly, I hope these scammers get what’s coming to them.

Got a call from the same bunch yesterday, they’re from some call centre in Bangalore. First it was from 01830 570579, and then today they used a different number. Some bloke called Kevin Peiterson rang me up saying I owe £6000 in missed VAT. He even told me to send the money into a joint account instead of HMRC’s official one. Proper joke!

Got caught out by one of those dodgy automated calls last Christmas. They convinced me I owed some tax, but things got fishy when they said I had to send the money to a weird account and not mention the reason to my bank. It was a hefty sum, about £6,750. Luckily, I stalled them long enough to alert the coppers, and now they’re investigating it as a fraud. Proper lesson learnt the tough way!

I've been getting calls from them quite a few times and always just ignore them. After seeing what others have said here, I'm really happy I didn't answer. Cheers to everyone for sharing their experiences.

Got a call saying I’m wanted for tax evasion and if I don’t hit 1 I’m in trouble with the law. Complete load of rubbish, obviously.
