Got a ring from this number but it went straight to voicemail. The message said something about my number not being registered with them and warned that if I didn’t stop whatever it was, they’d send a warrant to arrest me right away. I missed the beginning of the voicemail though. Honestly, it felt like a really dodgy and scary scam.

Some lady rang me, claiming she was from HM Revenue & Customs. Apparently, I owe them £3,000 due to some mistake in my taxes over the past four years. She said I had two choices: either settle the amount or face court. If I don’t pay, she warned that the police would get involved. Quite the scare!

About 40 minutes back, I got a call like that as well. It was really intimidating. Honestly, if there was any real problem, I doubt they'd just send a voicemail warning about being arrested! Still, some folks might be easily fooled by this, which is pretty nasty.

Just got a missed call from 0300 200 3549 about 40 mins ago, only rang a couple of times. Reading the comments here made me remember a BBC story I saw earlier today. They talked about an increase in scams where fraudsters pretend to be HMRC, but now they’re also calling landlines more often. Here’s a link to the article if anyone’s interested. BBC NEWS
