I've been getting calls from this number 0300 200 3503 on my phone quite a few times. As someone who works in tax, I can tell you HMRC wouldn’t suddenly ring with a recorded voice. They usually send a letter beforehand or only get in touch after you’ve initiated contact. So be wary, it’s likely a scam.

My partner got a phone call from this number claiming to be from the tax office. They said there was some dodgy claim tied to his name and warned he could go to jail if he didn’t deal with it. They told him to press 1 to continue, but he just ended the call straight away. It did give us a fright though, so I looked up the number here and it’s a relief to see it’s a scam. We’ll definitely be blocking it from now on.

These muppets have been ringing from what looks like the real HMRC number about stamp duty tax, trying to freak people out and get cash. They play an automated voice telling you to press 1 to chat with someone, or else they'll send a warrant to arrest you straight away... Honestly, with all this, maybe a break abroad wouldn’t be so bad 🤷🏻‍♂️

Got a call from these lot early morning, about 9am, saying I’d be arrested or something. I’m 71 years old and it honestly freaked me out so much I ended up crying and trembling. After hanging up, I searched online to check if it was legit and found this website. I’m absolutely furious these nasty cowards can just get away with bullying people like this. Proper nasty behaviour, not on at all!!!

Some lot called me up saying I'd done some huge tax fraud and that I was about to get nicked. Honestly, these muppets themselves should be behind bars.

Someone rang me pretending to be from the tax office, threatening arrest warrants if I didn't answer. Pure scare tactics to get info from you. Don't fall for it - if it was really the tax office, they'd send a letter through the post, not call like that. Don't give out anything!

Got a call supposedly from “HMRC” warning me about tax fraud and said I’d be arrested. Absolute scam. I used to be a cop and there’s no way they’d handle it through an automated message like that. Just a fake scare tactic to frighten older and vulnerable people into handing over info.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from the Inland Revenue, telling me there was a tax fraud case against me. They wanted me to press 1 to speak to the 'investigator'. I just ended the call straight away. No way I'd fall for that; my accountant'd be the first to find out if anything was actually wrong. Total scam, for sure.

I got a call today from scammers pretending to be from HMRC on this number. I’d already blocked their other number - 03002003503. After getting a creepy message yesterday, I rang the police on 101. They know all about this HMRC scam and told me to report it to ActionFraud too. I’m doing that now. Seems like this scam has been running for a few months. Absolutely don’t bother calling them back. Just make sure you tell the police and report it to ActionFraud.

Got a call from this number again just two days after the first one. They told me there’s a warrant out for me, but it smells like a scam. If it was real, surely they’d have sent something through the mail instead of just phoning?

That number is definitely from HMRC, but it's actually meant for things like ordering forms and dealing with stamp duty. I reckon the caller ID is being spoofed or something. Also, they never bother to leave a voicemail.
