I received a call from a person claiming to be from HMRC. It is important not to answer any questions from them. It seems that they operate by threatening individuals with local police involvement and accusations of tax fraud. My recommendation is to politely tell them to send the police to your doorstep. However, it's worth noting that nobody has actually come to my door following such calls.

I just got a call from someone claiming to be from Pakistan, telling me I was being charged with tax fraud. He gave me a badge number and said his name was Nate Shaw, even gave a case number, then demanded £2480 to avoid the police coming to arrest me. My brother told me to call the police straight away and let them know, and the scammer was still on the line while I was speaking to the police. Turns out it was all a scam, but it really scared me at first. I've also reported it to the genuine HMRC. Caller was called Nate Shaw.

Got a call again from what looks like the same lot, just using another phone number this time. The message was exactly the same - pay or face the consequences. I’d already blocked the previous number, so I’ve blocked this one too. Caller showed as Unknown.
