Honestly, these scammers try to scare you by saying you'll get arrested, but really they’re just ripping you off with their expensive charges if you do end up calling them. They’re total con artists and should be behind bars for a very long time, probably at least 25 years or more. The police refuse to investigate because they don’t really care about these fraudsters, which is sadly no surprise at all... So, whatever you do, don’t ring them, and definitely don’t press option 1 to talk to an advisor - it’s all a scam. Stay well clear!

I’ve now had this call come through five times, and blocking the number doesn’t help since it keeps switching. What’s really concerning is they pick numbers almost identical to those from HMRC, so anyone not clued up might easily think it’s legit. When I looked up the number on a recall site, it actually pointed to the HMRC website as a possible origin. I must say, HMRC typically prefers to communicate via letters rather than ringing individuals. In fact, they’re usually quite accommodating if one has any queries or struggles with tax matters. Just recently, I reached out to them, so I was quite taken aback when I received a phone call purporting to be from them the very following Saturday after I had sorted out my concerns the previous day. The number they called me from was 03002003477, and the message was rather alarming, claiming that if I failed to respond, a warrant for my arrest would be issued. I do hope they don’t try to track me down this week, as I’m off on holiday!
