The phone rang while I was in the bathroom and my grandson picked up. This bloke sounded really scary, claiming he was with the HRRC and accused me of dodging taxes, threatening I'd be arrested. It was really distressing for my lad. I've blocked the number now.

Got a call from someone saying they were HMRC, so I pressed 1 to speak to someone. Then an American voice came on, told me to wait. After a bit, I was put through to a guy called Steve Parker who sounded Indian. He asked what he could help with, but when I asked him what he wanted, he asked for me by my maiden name. I’m sure HMRC only know me by my married name, so I said no and he just ended the call straight away.

Today I got a call from someone claiming to be from HMRC. They said there was proof I’d committed fraud and that they’d sent letters before, but they were unsigned and sent back to them. Now they said they were going to take action unless I paid £2600 within 45 minutes. I told them I didn’t have that kind of money, and the guy warned that if I didn’t pay up, he’d ring the police and have me arrested straight away. I just told him to go ahead and call them if that was the case. - caller: H.M.R.C
