Got a call from an Indian woman asking me to verify some info, but I told her I’d wait for a letter from HMRC first. The line was awful and kept crackling right from the start. I rang HMRC on their official number and they said this number isn’t in their system at all!! Definitely looks like a scam to me!

HMRC would never just ring you out of nowhere saying you owe them money. They only get in touch about payments on debts that you already know about.

Just got called with the exact same scam. A recorded voice said I’m involved in tax evasion and fraud, and there’s a warrant out for me. I hit 1 and ended up speaking to someone who sounded American. I asked what tax evasion he was talking about, and he told me to pull over (I was driving to work) so he could explain. I told him I couldn't as I was on the motorway. Then I challenged him, saying I’m PAYE so it didn’t make sense, and he just hung up.

Just like others mentioned, I got a robocall. I hit 1 and some bloke with an Indian accent started asking for my info. I said no since they called me out of the blue. He asked again, I said no again, then the guy swore at me a couple of times and ended the call. Honestly, what kind of world is this?

Just got a call from this number, it was an automated message claiming it was from HMRC telling me I was under investigation for fraud. I quickly hung up and looked up the official HMRC site because I know if it was real, someone would call you personally and only after an officer has visited. Watch out, this sounds like a scam!

Had a rather peculiar call this morning-it's the third time now they've reached out. Decided to actually listen to the whole automated spiel this time. First off, the accent was distinctly American, which struck me as odd. Secondly, I can't imagine they'd really bother to warn you about an arrest warrant, can you? What really threw me, though, was that initial wave of panic I felt upon hearing the message; it was a fleeting moment of fear, maybe two seconds tops, before my logic kicked in and I simply hung up.

Over the last three days, this number has rang me three times. Just yesterday, I received a voicemail threatening that I would be arrested for tax evasion. I've taken the step of blocking the number this morning. I'm usually pretty savvy when it comes to these sorts of scams, but I can't help but think of those who might fall for such nonsense and be genuinely frightened by it. It’s quite alarming!

This number keeps ringing me but as soon as I answer, they just cut the call. When I try to call them back, it says the line is dead! Honestly, would be curious to know where they actually work at, might go pay ’em a visit just for a laugh!

I got a bit worried when I got a robo call saying there’s a warrant for my arrest. Then it said I could talk to some officer at HMRC if I pressed 1. The voice sounded like an American woman or something. I didn’t end up pressing 1, thought it might be some expensive premium rate number trap.

It’s crazy, Ive blocked these annoying calls but they still find a way to ring me. The number’s ?0300 200 3444?, I even contacted HMRC to report it but they just said they don’t make calls, they always send letters. Feels like they couldn’t care less about these scammers pretending to be them or the stress it might cause, especially for older people. What kind of organisation just brushes it off like that? Looks like we’re gonna have to sort this ourselves since HMRC clearly won’t do anything.

Got a call pretending to be from HMRC, saying I needed to pay up or I'd get arrested. The number was super similar to the official HMRC line. I double-checked with HMRC themselves, and they told me they never ring people from that 0300 number - it's just for enquiries about tax stuff. Honestly, just ignore it and don’t let it stress you out.

I just got a call from 03002003444, an automated message asking me to press 1. Then some bloke with an Indian accent said he was Michael Wood and claimed I owed them £452 which I had to pay straight away. They wouldn’t give me any bank details and said they would send me to Morrison’s. After that, they called again to “help” me with what to do next, threatening that if I didn’t pay, HMRC would send officers to arrest me and rough me up for not paying enough tax. Honestly, it was proper scary but glad to know it’s just a scam. Watch out everyone!

I received a call from this number today at precisely 12:37. I picked up without checking the caller ID, as I was anticipating a call. To my surprise, it was a recorded message claiming there’s a warrant out for my arrest due to tax fraud. It appears we’re not the only ones allegedly defrauding the tax authorities! If this were genuine, one would think there would be an actual person on the other end, having a proper conversation, rather than a pre-recorded spiel.

Received a call today and it was glaringly obvious that something was off. They seemed to have my National Insurance number, which raised a red flag, and it’s quite peculiar that they'd even request my account number. Definitely not the sort of thing you'd expect!

They claimed to be from HMRC and told me I’m facing fraud charges with a warrant for my arrest. They wanted my dob and the last four of my NI number. When I asked why they needed that info, they just hung up. Total scammers.

What a dreadful experience! I was under the impression that I could receive a call from RDE Exeter regarding my mammogram results. After answering, the line abruptly dropped. I attempted to call back but had no luck, whether on my mobile or through the landline. It’s been a source of worry for me, but now I'm absolutely furious!

I’ve just gone and blocked this number. I’ve also been getting fake emails about a refund from HMRC, so definitely a scam. Better to block it and be safe.

I received a rather dodgy call today, with the caller masquerading as HMRC. When I pressed '1' as instructed, the call abruptly cut off. I’m left pondering-what's Ofcom up to in situations like this? Surely, they could swiftly trace the ownership of that number and take appropriate legal measures against either the person or the entity responsible. The rules surrounding GDPR are quite explicit on this matter, aren’t they?

This dodgy number 03002003444 rang me with a robotic woman’s voice warning about HMRC tax fraud. Checked here and loads of people had the same eerie call. Better block it quick!

I received a call from this number today, claiming to be associated with the tax fraud investigation team. Typically, I steer clear of calls from unfamiliar numbers, but for some reason, I picked up without checking. If the tax office genuinely wanted to reach me, I'd expect them to have the courtesy of contacting me directly, rather than resorting to this. In my opinion, it's just another dodgy scam attempt.

03002003444 has been ringing me non stop for a couple of days now. Ive just got a new mobile so how do these scammers even get hold of the number? I tried ringing back but it just ended abruptly. Looked up here and saw its dodgy. I work for local council and HMRC wouldnt ever contact like that. Be careful, especially if ur vulnerable. Honestly, authorities need to do more to stop this rubbish. Blocked the number already.

It’s well overdue that action is taken against this sort of thing. If these calls are reaching older folks, it can really scare them badly. The government really should step up and deal with these awful scammers.

Got loads of calls over the past few days claiming to be from HMRC, saying I’ve got a warrant for my arrest! Then I got a text saying “You missed a call from me at 13:24 13 Feb. This is a free Call Alert from O2. To turn this off dial 901, then press #, option 4 and option 5.“ Like others mentioned, it’s the sort of thing that could really frighten elderly folks. I’m just going to block the number now.

Just got a call from someone saying they were with HMRC, saying I owe £475 and they’re investigating me for fraud with an arrest warrant out. Didn’t even ask for my name or anything. When I told them I had no money, they suddenly cut the call. I’m really glad I looked up the number here and saw all the other comments - I was getting proper worried I’d get arrested!

I got a call from what looked like this number, but it also popped up on my Viber app at exactly the same time. Feels like they might be spoofing through Viber or something. Seriously thinking about deleting Viber altogether if that’s how they're pulling these numbers.

0300 200 3444 rang me, said they were from HMRC but the call was full of strange noises and loud banging. They wanted me to pay a deposit straight away at Tesco or Asda but it all felt off. I decided to check it out and went straight to the police station. A police officer took my phone and tried to get the caller to provide details like their name, which HMRC office they were from, but the guy refused to say anything. He even threatened to report the officer for helping me with some sort of offence. Something definitely fishy going on there.
