On the bank holiday Monday around 3pm, I got a ring from 0300 200 3173. The person said they were from HMRC and mentioned some fraud case against me. I’m aware that HMRC wouldn’t contact you like this, so I ended the call pretty quick without hearing more. If this number is being used to try and scam folks by pretending to be HMRC, that’s really concerning. The caller gave the name NK but insisted they were HMRC, which just didn’t seem right.
