I always avoid picking up calls from numbers I don’t recognise. Since they’re not saved on my phone, I usually look them up online afterwards. Reading some bad reviews about a few has made me quick to block them straight away.

A couple times I've got calls like this, often the number looks almost the same except the last couple digits are different, like say 0300 200 3021 or close to it.

This week I got like six calls all starting with 030020030 and then different numbers like 16, 17, 18 and so on. When I said hello, a recorded voice popped up saying it was HMRC and that I was under suspicion for fraud, asking me to press 1. Don’t press that button, it’s just a trick to scare you into handing over loads of money to make the whole thing go away.

This week I’ve had loads of calls from 0300 numbers but I just ignore them if I don’t know who it is. I looked it up and found this site, really glad I’ve been blocking them, especially since some say they’re from HMRC, but I’m sure it’s a scam. I worry for those who might believe these calls, especially older or vulnerable people. It’s mad how you can’t even trust your phone or emails these days with all the scammers out there. I really think the police should be looking into this more.

I got the exact same call. A posh-sounding woman claiming to be from HMRC saying I was caught up in some fraud thing. Told me not to press 1 or anything. Then I also got an email pretending to be from HMRC with a fancy tax rebate form to fill out. Obviously a total scam. Be careful, they’re at it again.

I got a call from a guy with a posh English accent claiming to be from customs and excise. He told me I was suspected of fraud and to press 1, otherwise I'd be arrested by customs. Honestly, don’t even bother responding to that number.
