If I ever get a suspicious call, I always head over to the gov.uk site and use the contact number listed there to confirm it’s legit.

I’m certain beyond doubt that HM Revenue & Customs would never ring you up threatening to send the police with a warrant. Get real, automated calls like that? Sounds like a total scam to me!

Someone called me claiming to be from HMRC, but honestly, anyone with half a brain knows HMRC don’t ring you up. They always send letters and never shout about arrests or threats. Such idiots!

They kept calling nonstop for a few days straight, even though I just ignored the phone.

Received a ring from this number, saying it was the HMRC tax office, warning me about a fake claim lodged in my name and that i could be arrested soon. Smelled like a total scam since they just told me to press 1 without explaining anything else. A few mates of mine got calls like this too. I tried phoning back but the line just went dead.

My daughter mentioned that she got an automated message from this number, threatening her with arrest for tax fraud unless she pressed 1. She went ahead and did so, but weirdly, no one was on the line. She struggles with learning difficulties and had already received genuine calls from HMRC regarding a supposed tax underpayment. Now she's really anxious about it all - any ideas who might be behind this?
