My missus got a call from someone saying she’d done some fraud or something, told her not to shut the phone and to pop down to Morrison’s or WH Smiths. When I got back, she was absolutely shaken up. If I ever get my hands on those cowboys, they’ll find out what fear really means!

This call was just awful. I can imagine how terrified someone vulnerable could feel when threatened with arrest for tax fraud if they don’t press a button. Really hope the police see these posts and manage to track down whoever’s behind these dodgy numbers. It’s utterly shameful!

Got a call from someone claiming to be from HMRC saying there was an investigation against me and I needed to get a lawyer fast. They warned me to call them back or else I’d be in serious trouble legally. Total scam, don’t fall for it!

I just got one of those calls again, supposedly from HMRC about tax fraud. It’s some scam coming from groups in India who are really good at freaking you out and trying to pressure you into handing over money right then and there. Watch out because they’re total fraudsters and can mess up your whole life. Don’t believe it, there’s no warrant or anything legit! It’s all a big con!!!

Got a call telling me to press 1 because apparently I’ve done tax fraud, and if I don’t, the cops are on their way to arrest me! It was some robot voice and the whole thing only lasted about half a minute. I just hung up straight away, but I can imagine how freaked out someone more vulnerable might get. Classic HMRC automated voice scam. I bet this number’s faked to ring as part of a scam. If they manage to trick even one person, they could drain their whole bank account and end up making a tidy profit! Everyone’s heard about these scams now, but imagine if a pensioner or someone vulnerable fell for it? That’s the real worry.

Beware, this is a proper nasty HMRC scam! They called my mum and told her she’d be arrested, which really upset her and she was in tears on the phone. I grabbed the phone off her and started giving it right back to them, swearing and all. Funny thing is, the bloke on the other end, who had an Asian accent, started swearing too! This sort of thing happens all the time now. Make sure you report these crooks so others don’t fall for it!

I've been inundated with calls of this nature lately. When I pick up, there's often a prolonged silence-around ten to fifteen seconds-before they hang up on me. If I attempt to return the call, I'm met with a message saying that the number is blocked. It’s becoming alarmingly frequent, and I’m absolutely exasperated with it!

I got a call supposedly from HMRC saying I was going to be arrested over some debts. Just to be clear, HMRC doesn’t do arrests or send out robo-calls like that. They always contact you first with a letter that’s properly addressed. If you get a call like this, don’t give out any info, not even your name. It’s a scam!

Got a call earlier and there was nothing but silence when i picked up, then it hung up right away. If this is the same scam others are talking about where they claim to be from HMRC, i can say from my time working there they would never use an automatic voice. Plus, HMRC doesn’t send out arrest warrants, any legal actions are handled by the county courts. Best to just ignore these calls altogether.

Got a call from 0300 200 2312, it's definitely a scam. The automated message says to press 1 to talk to someone from HMRC, and even warns you'll be arrested if you don't. Don't fall for it, do NOT press 1! HMRC would never ring you like this over tax issues - they'd send a letter instead. I blocked the number straight away and sent all the info - time, number, my number - to [email protected] to report it. Stay safe and ignore these dodgy calls!
