Claiming to be HMRC is a complete scam! I wouldn’t pick up at all. Instead, why not set a voicemail that goes something like, ‘Calls from numbers I don’t recognise won’t be answered. Please leave your name and why you’re calling and I’ll get back to you. Cheers!’

So, I got this automated call saying it was HMRC and that I needed to press 1 to stop a warrant for my arrest. I just ended the call straight away. But it got me thinking, what if I had actually pressed 1? What are these fraudsters after exactly? Could it be they’re trying to grab info from my phone or something? Really makes you wonder.

Just got a call from 0300 200 2228 claiming there was an HMRC fraud case against me and that I’d be arrested if I didn’t press 1. The bloke on the phone sounded Asian and asked for my name and address. I told him he should have that info since he was the one calling me, then he cut me off. Definitely a scam - watch out!
