Got a call from someone claiming to be from the inland revenue - total scam!

I just answered a call from a robotic voice claiming to be from “inland revenue & customs.” The automated message said I’m involved in a tax fraud investigation and if I don’t press "1" right away, they’d send out a warrant for me. I pressed "1" just to see what would happen, and then they tried to trick me into sharing personal details. When I didn’t give them anything straight away, they quickly ended the call. Definitely a dodgy scam.

Got a call from some bloke with a thick Indian accent saying he was from HMRC. He said I was at risk of being arrested for tax fraud and that if I paid up right then on the phone, they’d cancel the arrest warrant. Total scam, don’t fall for it!

Got a call like this just now. Some dodgy recorded voice claiming the tax office says I’m involved in fraud and if I don’t hit ‘1’ I’ll be nabbed soon! Didn’t bother pressing anything, honestly feel like making a cuppa and seeing if the polis turn up. Flagged it as risky - no idea what happens if you actually press the button, probably best stayed clear!
