I got a call from some dodgy people claiming they needed to get into my computer so they could fix some issues. Sounded like a total scam to me.

I got a call from this number, some bloke said he was from Microsoft, warning me my computer had been hacked for the past fortnight and they had to fix it right away. I knew straight away it was bull because I don’t even have a personal computer. When I threw a question at him, he got all twitchy and annoyed. I ended the call, but then he rang back and just started giggling non-stop and banging on buttons. Honestly, it felt kinda creepy and I’m sure it could scare someone who’s not ready for that kinda behaviour.

this number rang me on 15th jan 2021, as soon as i picked up they just cut off. not the initial time either, these lot try to hack into your computer or steal credit card details then infect your device with malware. they told me they were from bt and said there was an issue with my computer, but i knew right away it was a scam.

Somebody called me claiming my computer needed urgent assistance, but they never told me who they were or which company they worked for. When I asked them to take me off their list, they got quite aggressive and even started threatening me. I’ve never felt so annoyed on a phone call before. They went on about calling me daily and even mentioned contacting my wife, which I find absolutely shocking. This has to be against the law, and I’m definitely reporting them to BT and the Telephone Preference Service. No way am I letting this slide.

this number called me 3 times today, definitely some kind of scam. i decided to humour them and just kept stringing them along, making up silly excuses to chew up their time. if anyone else has the patience, just pretend your computer’s acting up and you need to reboot or something. i ended up running them around for about 25 minutes and they even said they'll ring me again tomorrow! unbelievable really.

I got a call from someone claiming they could sort out my computer's slow performance. Coincidentally, I was dealing with computer issues and had error messages popping up when they rang. When I asked what exactly they would do, they said they’d remove corrupted files, which immediately made me suspicious. I then asked how much it would cost, and they started talking about installing an updated antivirus that would work for 9 years, all for a single fee of £160. That’s when I knew it was a scam - sounds like a trick to get your bank details.

I just got a call from a really rude bloke with a heavy Indian accent claiming he was from some tech support at Windows or whatever. I told him to take my number off his list and not ring me again. Then he wanted to chat to my husband but I said no, and he just ended the call.

I told him I wasn’t daft. At first, he laughed, but then it sounded more like he was coughing and apologised for feeling unwell. I asked if I could give my details to get rid of a virus, just to mess with him, and he ended the call straight away. Being with Virgin Media, I know from past experience they never ring me if my internet slows - they always introduce themselves properly. Oddly enough, about 10 minutes after the call, my usual 150mbps speed dropped to 58mbps. If you spot any issues with your internet and someone phones about it, best to just hang up and ring your provider yourself on the official number you always use.

Definitely dodgy. I just picked up a call from this number and there was complete silence for a good 5 seconds, then a guy spoke with a thick Indian accent and really bad English. He claimed he was from my computer’s tech support. I knew right away it was a scam so I hung up right away without a word. Honestly, anyone else getting this call should do exactly the same. I’m also planning to report this number to the fraud authorities.

This number called my wife and she got really worried thinking there might be an issue with our laptop. I took it to a nearby computer repair place and they told me straight up it’s a scam. Apparently, these people get hold of your number from different sources and ring hoping you use Avanti protection, which is quite common since it’s free.
NEVER HAND OVER ANY PERSONAL INFO OR LET THEM ON YOUR COMPUTER !!!!!

I'm signed up with the telephone preference scheme and have blocked overseas calls too, but these annoying calls keep coming. I do shift work, so the only thing left is to physically unplug my phone. Got a call from someone with an Indian accent but oddly enough, he had a very English sounding name. Claimed to be from the tech support team of the company that supplies my computer. I cut him off right away and told him he was just a fraud and a con man, then I ended the call.

Got a call tonight from someone speaking with a strong Indian accent. When I mentioned my computer was fine and asked where they got my number from, the bloke told me to calm down or he’d end the call. I just hung up right away. What really bothered me was that my 10 year old lad picked up the phone, and they didn’t seem bothered trying to pull info out of him at all.
