Got a call from some 'energy adviser' pushing fibreglass insulation. When I asked how they got my number, they just said it was from a database. Then I asked for their company name and they just cut me off. I’ve been ringing back on hidden numbers just to mess with them a bit.

Ringin back any of these dodgy numbers is a bad idea for loads of reasons. One is that it might be a wangiri scam, where they use fake numbers but sometimes they’re actually real landline numbers belonging to innocent folks. Since most landlines these days are used by elderly people, it could really upset them if they get hassled by random calls. I’ve read quite a few comments here where that’s exactly what happened.
