Got a recorded message saying our internet connection endpoint had been changed and that there might be a hacking threat. Definitely a scam call.

I received an automated call claiming to be from BT, stating they were suspending my internet due to alleged suspicious activity. As a BT employee, I can assure you that this is utter nonsense and not a procedure they would follow. This is clearly a SCAM - the caller insisted they were from BT.

I received a rather alarming call from this number, claiming that there was an arrest warrant out for me from HMRC. Honestly, it’s high time this number was put to rest for good. I’m ex-directory and registered with TPS, so I was rather taken aback. I decided to ring back, only to be met with an Asian gentleman who feigned ignorance. It was clear he was not alone; I could hear other people taking calls in the background. Just a heads up - this seems to be a scam of sorts. Stay vigilant!

I received a rather strange automated message claiming that I was owed a refund for computer support services, which, apparently, I had paid for. The call informed me that the company was no longer operational and urged me to ring a specific number to resolve this. Quite baffling, if you ask me!

Be careful, this is totally a scam. Got a voicemail on Monday 13th May with some robotic voice mumbling about our tech support shutting down? Said we might get a refund for a payment made a couple weeks back. Then they told me to press 1. No chance im pressing anything, these auto scammers are a joke!

Received a robo call from this number saying my internet will be disconnected today because of suspicious activity. They said to press 1 to sort it out but I didn’t bother. How do these lot find these ex-directory numbers that are supposed to be on the TPS list? Lucky I’m not forgetful or anything cos this kind of call would freak someone out, or maybe that’s what they want? I'll check with the IT team but I reckon it’s just a SCAM.

Got a call from a bloke who said his name was “Shane Wilson” but he had a kind of Indian accent, which was odd with that name. He kept saying there were loads of people connected to my internet line and if I went to my PC, he’d guide me through fixing it. I didn’t fall for it because it sounded like a total con! He claimed to be calling from London, so I looked up the number and it showed Northern Ireland, but after digging more, turns out the call was actually coming from India. If you get a ring from this number, just hang up - it’s definitely a scam!

Got a call from 02840041126 saying I needed to contact BT because there was some suspicious activity on my phone and internet, and that my service might get cut off today. The voice sounded a bit robotic and some of the grammar was off. If it was BT calling, I’d expect them to sound more professional. I’d say don’t ring them back or get involved as it might be a scam to charge you, but do check your antivirus (like Norton or McAfee) for any warnings and try searching the number on a reverse phone lookup site like this one.

BT are well aware this number's dodgy and they’re blocking it for folks using their free Call Protect service. It shows up in my call list but the phone didn’t actually ring, and 1471 won’t pick it up either. So yeah, it’s definitely a scam. At around 2:35 this afternoon, I got a call from a robotic woman’s voice saying there’s been some “hacking activity” on my internet and that my service was going to get cut off. They told me to press 1 or ring the 0284 number listed. After reading through all the reviews here, I’m definitely not gonna call back. Looks like a total scam to me.

Received a rather suspicious phone call featuring a pre-recorded voice, alleging to be from Microsoft, saying they were shutting down and urging me to press 1 for help and a possible reimbursement. I wouldn't be surprised if they were fishing for people's banking info! It genuinely concerns me for individuals dealing with dementia and the like, as these scams can be particularly deceptive. Quite bizarre, considering I'm on the ex-directory list and have registered with the Telephone Preference Service!

It’s obvious this is a dodgy scam since I don’t even use BT!

I received a rather alarming call this morning at about 6:18 a.m. A woman with a distinctly English accent was on the line, warning me that my phone service was about to be cut off. She mentioned something about an unusual internet breach and advised that I should ring back to speak with a so-called expert. The number displayed was 442840041126. Quite unsettling, if you ask me!

Received a call earlier today, purporting to be from a defunct company that owed me some sort of reimbursement. They insisted that I press 1 to chat with their company representative. Came through on my landline at precisely 12:42 PM on the 13th of May 2019, mind you.
