Got a call from a guy with an Asian accent who claimed he was from TPS. He then started asking me to verify my debit card details. I told him I’d look up his number online and he just hung up on me. My elderly mother-in-law kept getting calls from this number. They even knew her name and where she lives, which really scared her. They asked for her bank info too, which is just ridiculous. The people on the phone spoke with strong accents, sounded like they were in some call centre far away. We've put her landline on block for that number now. Told her to just ignore any calls she doesn’t know or to hang up quickly if she does answer and it’s a stranger. These scammers are just leeches, totally disgusting.

this same firm kept ringing me, like 3 times within two days, each time from a different number. every caller sounded like they were from somewhere in asia, names like peter, christopher, and susanll. they claimed they wanted to help me block annoying calls. somehow they knew my address and even asked if my visa debit had expired back in 2019. i told them i wasn’t interested in opening any account, and they just hung up after that.

Well, I just missed a call and all I got was total silence. Cheers to everyone who's shared their experiences - fingers crossed they ring me again. Obviously, they're dodgy as hell, so I’ll be blocking that number, but I’ll keep an ear out for the next call and let you all know more about these nasty scam people. A.

I received a call from someone with an accent, sounded like they were in the midst of a lively pub. They claimed to be with Preference Calling and had all sorts of information about me, even referencing a card that had run out back in 2018. I made it clear that I wasn’t interested in any paid upgrade, especially since the service was supposedly free. The caller reiterated all the information he had, and I firmly stated again that while I’d appreciate any upgrades, I wasn’t about to hand over any payment. I also expressed my bewilderment at the notion of confirming card details with him. Out of nowhere, he simply hung up!

Got a call from someone who said their name was Peter, sounded Asian, said they were from Telephone Preference Service trying to offer a “better” package. Absolutely dodgy if you ask me. Luckily BT Call Protect helped me block the number straight away.
