Today, at 17:19, I received a rather dubious call on my mobile from the number 028 2502 2895, which appeared to be linked to Ballymena in Northern Ireland. The person on the line, a gentleman with a distinct Asian accent, purported to be representing O2 and began to elaborate on some supposedly fantastic offers. Initially, I was intrigued (though quite wary). He insisted that the promotion he was discussing was only available for today. As he carried on, I noticed he had access to my personal details-my name, home address, mobile number, and date of birth. The latter particularly alarmed me, as I believed such information was classified as "sensitive". He even had the audacity to ask which provider I currently use! Interestingly, the email he mentioned was not one I routinely utilise for correspondence. He proceeded to detail my existing mobile plan, which only heightened my suspicions, as I had altered my SIM contract back in May 2021 and the details he referred to were outdated. At one stage, he stated he would cease the recording of the call and then shockingly recited my SORT CODE and ACCOUNT NUMBER associated with O2. To top it all off, he attempted to get me to divulge the long 16-digit number on my debit card. Absolutely not! Given the array of personal information he revealed, I'm led to suspect there may have been a significant data breach within O2.

They just won’t stop ringing me!

This number keeps ringing me multiple times each day, practically without fail!

I received a phone call shortly after I provided my details on a few survey sites that require payment.

I don’t pick up when this number rings, it calls me like three times every day at random hours. They never bother to leave a voicemail either. Just a heads up, if you do decide to answer, don’t share any of your bank info with them. Be cautious!

Been ringing for like half an hour now, called me 4 times and I just left it unanswered.

Yesterday I received a rather dubious phone call, and today it seemed as if the caller had an alarming amount of my personal information, such as my name and address. They even knew which mobile provider I was with. A woman on the line inquired if I fancied switching to a new SIM card priced at £15 a month for unlimited everything. I thought this might please my kids, as they've often grumbled about our home internet. So, I thought, why not? However, as she hinted at needing my bank details, it was quite chaotic with the children chattering away in the background - I struggled to catch every word. I ended up sharing my card details, but it didn't dawn on me just how much information she was fishing for. I carelessly handed over all the details! She also asked for my mother’s name and my full date of birth, to which I replied without thinking. When she mentioned she would likely pass my credit check, I rather sceptically told her that wouldn’t be the case. However, she abruptly claimed that I hadn’t passed and hung up. It was only after ending the call that the realisation struck me - I had just fallen victim to a scam. This woman possessed every conceivable detail about me: name, address, date of birth, maternal name, and banking information. I promptly contacted my bank to report the incident, and they warned me it sounded like identity theft. They blocked my card, but luckily, I still retained access to my accounts. Now I find myself in a complete tizz, all because of this scammer posing as an O2 representative. Please take heed and don’t be as foolish as I was - it’s astonishingly easy to get duped when something appears to be genuine!

Received a rather bothersome call from 028 2502 2894; they’ve been incessantly ringing me the whole day. This marks the third time they’ve disturbed my peace! I've finally blocked the number as it’s quite ridiculous. They were prying about a SIM card I supposedly sought, inquiring about the network I use and whether it’s pay-as-you-go or monthly. On top of that, they were curious about my monthly costs all while promoting some discounts - such a nosy affair! I decided to hang up as it was getting rather tiresome.

This afternoon I got a call from 02825022895 but didn’t answer since my phone was on silent. They didn’t bother to leave any voicemail or message.

I received a phone call from someone purporting to be with O2, regarding a request for a complimentary SIM card that I supposedly submitted (what a laugh!).

I rang back using my landline and it showed as 02. I've never had anything to do with them, so how on earth did they get hold of my mobile number?

Called me twice but didn’t bother to leave a voicemail. That's enough for me, they’re getting blocked! 😤

Looks like it’s an 02 number, but I’ve never dealt with them since they were called Celinet, so I just blocked the call.

I received a missed call from this number, and they did leave a message-but all I could hear was just a jumble of noise. I suspect it's from a call centre or some such place. I've gone ahead and blocked the number.

WATCH OUT for this awful scam pretending to be HMRC! They called my mum and said she'd be arrested, which really upset her and she was in tears on the phone. I grabbed it off her and started yelling back, and the guy with an Asian accent actually started swearing too! These scammers are everywhere - please make sure you report them so others know what’s going on!

Watch out! Got a call claiming I was tied up in some tax fraud stuff. They told me if i didn’t hit 1 they’d put a warrant out for my arrest real soon. Proper scary trick, just a scam!

Received a call from this number, but I haven't the foggiest who it belongs to. They didn’t bother to leave a message. I've now added them to my blocked list - the number is 02825022895.

This number called me like five times within one hour but never left any message. My phone marked it as possible scam, so I ended up blocking it.

I haven't the faintest idea who was on the other end, but when I picked up, there was definitely a bloke speaking. I suspect it was some sort of scam. The number was 028 2502 2895.
