On 19/11/21 at about 17:19, my mobile phone rang from 028 2502 2895, showing Ballymena, Northern Ireland on the caller ID. The person on the other end had a clear Asian accent and said he was calling on behalf of O2, offering me a ‘better deal’ which apparently was only available that very day. From the start, I felt a bit wary but kept listening. He started rattling off details like my full name, address, date of birth - which struck me as odd since I thought DOB was meant to be private info. Also, he asked who my current provider was and mentioned an email address I don’t normally use for general stuff. He then went on to describe my phone plan, but it didn’t add up since I’d switched deals back in May 2021. So clearly, the info he was using was outdated. Then, things took a strange turn when he said he’d stop recording the call and proceeded to recite my bank details, including my sort code and account number linked to O2. When he asked for my 16-digit debit card number I refused outright - no way was I giving that out. Given how much personal data he seemed to have, I’m really worried there might have been some kind of leak within O2 exposing sensitive customer information.

This number rang me today and after chatting for a while, I got the feeling something fishy was going on with O2. They seemed to know a lot of personal stuff about me that should only be between me and my O2 contract. Makes me wonder if there’s been some kind of hack or data leak at Telefonica.

Got a call from someone saying they were Barclays, and they already had all my info, like my full name and address. When I refused to give them my card details, they just hung up on me. Since then, they’ve called me about 16 more times! Definitely blocking this number, watch out everyone!

I got a few missed calls from this number, but no texts or voicemails were left. Then, later that day, my bank rang me about suspicious activity on my card. I don’t know if it’s connected, but I had loads of calls from unknown or ‘no caller ID’ numbers that day. Even though I never picked up, somehow they managed to breach my bank details. Thankfully, my bank spotted the fraud quickly, froze my card and alerted me straight away. Could’ve been a lot worse!

So, yesterday I got a call from someone claiming to be from a phone company, and today they somehow already knew my full name, address, and even which provider I used. This lady started offering me a new SIM with unlimited everything for £15 a month. I thought, alright, this could sort the internet issues my kids keep moaning about, so I agreed. But then she asked for my bank card details. I had my kids in the back so I couldn’t hear properly, but foolishly I ended up giving her all the info on my card! She also asked for my mum’s name and my full birthday - which I also stupidly told her. Then she said something about passing the credit check, I said I didn’t think so but she insisted otherwise and then just hung up on me. It wasn’t until after the call ended that I realised I’d been totally scammed. She had everything - my bank details, personal info, the lot. I rang my bank right away and they reckon it’s identity theft. They blocked my card but I still have access to my account, which is worrying. My head’s all over the place now but just to warn anyone else - if you get a call from a number pretending to be O2 or any company, be careful. Don’t be an idiot like me and give out your details, coz these scams are so easy to fall for if it sounds legit.

Got calls from 028 2502 2894 nonstop today, they ring me like three times already and just won’t quit. I finally blocked them cause it was getting annoying. They kept quizzing me about some SIM card they said I ordered, asking what network I use, if it’s pay monthly or pay as you go, and how much I pay. Sounded like they were just prying and trying to sell me some discounts or something, so I just cut the call. Proper irritating!

WATCH OUT for this awful scam pretending to be HMRC! They called my mum and said she'd be arrested, which really upset her and she was in tears on the phone. I grabbed it off her and started yelling back, and the guy with an Asian accent actually started swearing too!
