I received a dodgy call supposedly from BT, trying to gain access to my computer. When I questioned their authenticity, they became quite aggressive and rude!

Had a call today from some bloke claiming to be with BT, trying to get me to test my internet speeds. I work in telecoms so I knew straight away the download and upload speeds were spot on. When I pointed out the upload speed was exactly what it should be, he just says “You’re clever” and then hangs up on me! What a muppet!

Got a call from some bloke who said he was Officer Jeremy Cooper, said there’s been some trouble found on my computer. He mentioned he’s stationed in London and gave this badge number, NEA4823JZ. When I asked for his contact number to verify, he told me it was 81231860. Sounded a bit dodgy if you ask me.

Oh yeah, for sure a scam- they claimed to be from the National Crime Agency saying we were involved in some cyber crime! You can easily find the real NCA number on the internet (General Enquiries: 0370 496 7622). Just ring them up and report the number you got called from, so they can keep a lookout.

Got another call from the same number on 18th April 2017 at 11:08. After a usual pause while they realise someone picked up, a woman with an Asian accent said she was Iris from the UK Cybercrime team. She claimed there were attempts to hack into my computer after confirming it was mine. I asked her for an error code, and she gave me 142. I couldn’t help but laugh and told her that as someone working in IT, I'd expect a proper code to be way longer, probably at least nine digits. She then doubted my IT background. When I mentioned Windows NT 4 to test her, she quickly hung up.

I got a call from a woman with a foreign accent, said she was from BT Openreach about some issue with my internet line. She was really pushy trying to convince me she could sort it out. I told her I'd check with my tech-savvy mate first and then ended the call. Definitely felt like a scam to me.

Got a call from a lady with an Asian accent claiming she was from BT tech support. She said there was an issue with my internet and needed to check my broadband. She told me to ring back on 01634620101, but when I looked it up, it seems that number is linked to scams.

Wow, twice in one day! I just got a ring from John Marshall. I barely got to say anything before I mentioned how popular he seemed and that I'd actually been looking him up on this site. Then I told him he was notorious for being a scammer who usually cuts off calls when caught out. Sure enough, he ended the call straight away!

Got a ring from this number earlier and it was some bloke with an Asian accent saying his name was John Marshall, claiming he was from BT. He warned me that my internet might get cut off because my computer supposedly had malware. He wanted me to give him remote access, but I wasn't having any of it. I rang BT straight away, and they told me it’s a total con. They also added Call Protect to my line for free, so now I can just call 1572 and stop these dodgy calls from coming through.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from the BT tech team, saying our broadband had been down for ten days. When my missus told them she’d let me know, the caller just ended the call straight away.

Got a call at about 3.03pm on 13/04/17 from 02492736183 claiming it was BT saying they were ending our contract. I rang BT to confirm and they had no record of any such call. Just ended up hanging on the line.

Got a call from 024 9273 6183, and the woman on the other end, with an accent, claimed my system had a major virus and they were going to disconnect me for three months! Totally ridiculous. I just went along with it for a bit of fun and said I'd get back to her. Then she gave me a number to ring back: 020 3129 4936, which I reckon is just another scam.

oh, I nearly forgot to mention, I signed up for bt’s new 1572 service. It’s free and lets you put annoying numbers into a personal block list. So if the same person rings again, it just goes straight to this bin and my phone never even rings at home. really handy!

Somebody rang me up saying they were with the national crime agency. They told me my computer was sending out messages and even started talking about my CLSID and where I lived. Pretty dodgy if you ask me.
