02476682942 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 02476682942 👆 is reported as a persistent nuisance linked to scam calls, often involving claims of computer problems or hacking attempts. Callers frequently speak English poorly, sometimes with Asian accents, and abruptly hang up when answered or fail to provide any clear information. Many users experience silent calls or dropped calls on answer. The number targets all ages, including vulnerable groups like the elderly. Attempts to engage or identify the caller typically fail, and calling back proves fruitless with numbers often invalid or blocked. Callers may name themselves as from tech support but quickly end calls when challenged or questioned. The consensus suggests these calls are part of a cold-call scam operation aiming to cause confusion, annoyance, and possibly gain remote access to computers.

This number has been trying to get in touch with us quite often. Whenever we answer, there’s nothing but silence, and most times, they only let it ring a handful of times before hanging up.

This person was rambling about my PC, saying Windows was terrible and claimed I had 16 computers! Then they just ended the call. They tried ringing me again but as soon as I picked up, they just dropped the phone. Strange behaviour!

Every time the phone goes off, I answer it, but it just hangs up on me. It's happened multiple times now!

Honestly, I almost wanna say they should brush up on their English, but don’t wanna sound rude or anything. I was completely lost trying to figure out what he was even on about!

Today, around 1.17pm (14th June 2018), my phone buzzed but by the time I managed to get to it, about 12 to 15 seconds later, it had already stopped ringing. After that, I tried calling 1471 to see who it was and then looked up the number online. It wasn't anyone I knew, so I'm guessing it was just some unwanted spam call. I’m an elderly person living here on the Isle of Man.

My phone has been ringing repeatedly, and when I finally picked it up, the person on the other end hung up as soon as they realised it was me. Quite peculiar, really!

I got a call from them earlier, but as soon as I picked up, they just ended it. It’s really frustrating, especially since I’m still healing from surgery and it took a lot of effort to get to the phone. I’m registered with the TPS, but honestly, it feels completely pointless.

You can tell just by the number itself. Unless you’re in central London, most UK phone numbers start with 01. And honestly, names like Clive, Peter, Brian or Stephen aren’t common in India like some might want you to think. To put it plainly, if you don’t know who it is, just don’t pick up. Remember, nothing’s truly free these days.

Not entirely sure, but at first it seemed like the call was coming from abroad, maybe somewhere in Asia. Didn’t hang about much before I ended the call.

I heard loads of noise like a call centre in the background, then they just dropped the call.

I’ll be honest, I was really harsh and borderline rude to the person on the line. My heart medication’s been adjusted recently to keep my pulse steady, so I finally managed to relax outside in the sunshine after ages - and then these lot ring me up out of the blue. I’m almost certain Windows don’t do cold calls like this to their customers, and if they did, I can’t imagine they'd talk to anyone that way. What I ended up saying stays between me and them, but honestly, anyone trying to scam pensioners at 5.20 on a Saturday evening deserves every harsh word I threw their way!

I dodged what could've been my second call from this scammer this week, lucky me. Loads of people keep getting calls with the same story and stuck with the same number too, yet it’s crazy that no one’s done anything to block it or stop these calls from carrying on nonstop. Seems like nobody cares or can be bothered to fix it.

Got a call from an asian bloke claiming my computer had been infected with some dodgy malware for ages. I decided to humour him for a while, but just as I was about to let him know I’ve been in IT for two decades and actually use a Mac, he suddenly ended the call.

Got a call from this number, some guy who sounded Asian with really bad English. He was trying to get me to log into my computer but I told him I didn’t own one, then he just hung up. I’ve had calls from this number before but usually no one says anything, just silence.

Some bloke with a proper English name was reading off some script with awful English, trying to chat about my computer. I told him it sounded like spam, but he reckoned I had no evidence. Then he said he couldn’t take my number off his list, even though I thought that was a must. Tried ringing the number back from my work phone, but it just cut out straight away.

If you’re not good with computers, watch out for these calls. They try to get you to give them control of your computer, like with logmein or something. When I asked why a tech support company would ring me when I never asked for help, the guy just dropped the call. It was a bloke with an Asian accent, quite pushy too.

If you try calling back, it just says the number's not valid. Make sure you block your own number when you call back by dialling 141 before theirs. I never bother telling these muppets that I don’t have a computer anyway. The only things crashing around here are the windows themselves!

Got a call from an Asian bloke who just wouldn't take no for an answer. Claimed he was a legit computer expert and insisted there was a major issue with my PC. He kept going on about me being hacked every time I was online. When I kept denying it, he got annoyed and said I wasn’t taking him seriously! His exact words were something like, "If I was a hacker, why would I call you?" I mentioned my son works in cyber security, but he insisted that wouldn’t make any difference. After that, I had enough, told him cheers but no thanks, and ended the call.

Got a call from a guy with an Asian accent, claiming there was some problem with my computer and that he worked for a tech support team. Pretty sure it was a phishing attempt. What worries me is that this managed to get through my call blocker. I'd suggest putting this number on your block list.

Seems like all these people claiming to be from TalkTalk are just messing about. Total nonsense if you ask me. I’ve got a call blocker on and switched off my voicemail ages ago. Since the start of 2011, I’ve been bombarded with over 1500 calls like this. Every month, I send a list of these pesky calls to my local MP hoping they’ll sort something out. Honestly, cold calling needs to be banned completely. Best advice? Don’t pick up if you don’t recognise the number, just let it ring out.

Got another call from one of those bloody silent callers, so fed up with them. These scammers really should be dealt with properly - chuck them behind bars and lose the key, or better yet, dump them on some remote island where they can ring one another all day long. Honestly, no one wants their calls bothering us.

Not 100% sure if it's Coventry, but someone called with a pretty thick Indian or Asian accent. They were saying there’s some big problem with my computer and wanted me to follow some steps with them over the phone. Honestly, I just started laughing, couldn’t take it seriously. Then they just dropped the call. Blocked them straight away.

About quarter of an hour back, I got a call asking if I was the person who owns the computer. I told her she had no reason to contact me and that everything was fine with my computer. I also said I was well aware of these scams, and she really shouldn't be calling me. She then claimed she was entitled to call because she supposedly knew more about computers than I do! As I started getting a bit annoyed and swore, she quickly ended the call.

BT call blocker picked up a call and asked me to answer, but there was no message left so I ended up blocking the number. Talking about TPS doesn’t help much since last I heard, it only works if both sides have registered, and obviously these scammers don’t bother signing up.
