I recently received a robotic voicemail claiming there was some sort of legal action being taken against me by HMRC. Clearly, it’s a scam! Do yourself a favour and block that number - whatever you do, don’t ring them back.

My mum got a call from someone warning her that her house is being watched and said they're going to take legal action against her. It was really scary and felt like a scam.

I didn’t pick up. Got this weird voicemail about my house being watched and possibly facing some legal trouble. The call seemed automated, and the beginning got cut off somehow. Pretty unsettling.

I received a rather peculiar voicemail that was nothing but a pre-recorded message claiming my home is being monitored (as if!). They even insisted I should ring back straightaway to chat about it. No chance! And to top it off, at the end of the message, you can hear some chatter from what sounds like a call centre, but I couldn't catch a word of it. Quite odd, really!

Got a scary robot message saying I’m involved in some crime and my place is being watched because there’s a lawsuit or something. They kept saying I must call back right away. Really freaked me out!

Got an automated message saying I’m the “main suspect” and that my flat’s being watched because of some “lawsuit filed in my name.” Mind you, I don’t even own a house, just live in an apartment building. Proper weird!

I got a call saying I'm being investigated by HMRC. They told me to ring a premium number or else I'd face some serious trouble, maybe even a lawsuit. They were threatening me with fines or something if I didn't call back. Proper dodgy, felt like a scam.

Absolutely do not respond or engage with the message, and definitely don’t forget to block them!

Whatever you do, steer clear of that number. They claim to be HMRC and insist that there's a lawsuit aimed at you and that your property is being monitored (honestly, it's laughable).

I mean, who genuinely believes a lawsuit would unfold like that?

They're simply trying to frighten folks into calling so they can swindle them. Don't be a victim of these unscrupulous con artists!

Got a call saying I owed money to HMRC and had been involved in fraud, and that if I didn’t pay up quickly, local police would arrest me within 20 minutes. The caller told me if I hung up, I’d have to ring back straight away or risk being prosecuted. He said his name was “George Walton” and claimed he was from the tax crime unit.

I got a robocall saying it was from HMRC, warning me that my home was being watched. It sounded dodgy so I sent an email about it to [email protected], just like the government website suggests. Definitely a scam in my opinion.

I got a voicemail claiming to be from hmrc's legal team saying I was being investigated. A couple days before that, i had a call from a different number warning me there was a warrant for my arrest coming. When I asked for a case number, they just cut the call.
