I keep getting these persistent calls from a number that’s clearly misdialled. They’re after someone completely unfamiliar to me! When I probed a bit, questioning whether they were suggesting I file a fraudulent claim for an incident that never occurred, the chap on the other end seemed rather prickly. I pressed him for the source of his information, as it was blatantly untrue and felt like a blatant violation of my privacy. He insisted that my insurance company was the one who disclosed this information. I intend to have a word with my insurer about potential breaches of data protection regulations. I also asked him to provide me with the details of this "accident" via email. His response? He wanted my email address! I couldn't help but retort that if indeed they'd procured this information from my insurance, they ought to have my details already! What’s the best way to escalate this? This whole situation reeks of a scam.
