I wasn’t familiar with the number but there was no message once I checked the answerphone. To me, that usually means it’s a scam. Interestingly, I got a call from a very close number just the day before.

My BT service automatically blocked this number, but I still decided to look it up online... Do these fraudsters never get tired of using dodgy numbers?! It’s frustrating that OfCom doesn’t appear to have the power to put an end to this nonsense!

I use BT block and still got this call. They didn’t even bother leaving a voicemail. It’s clearly a scam. Feels pointless paying for these blocks when calls like this come straight through.

Today, I got a call from 02380 179171, but they just let it ring 5 times then cut off. I know 02380 as a local area code so I tried ringing back by pressing 3, but all I got was a recorded voice saying "this number can't accept incoming calls right now." That made me think it might be one of those scam marketing calls. Looking at other comments on this site, it seems like it's one of those callers pretending to offer loft insulation or something like that.

Some scammers called saying my loft insulation urgently needed fixing and that it was absolutely necessary.
