Received a call from the number mentioned, purporting to be from BT. A quick search online revealed it’s not an official BT number, so I’ve blocked it! The woman on the line had quite a noticeable Indian/Pakistani accent, and her English was quite hard to decipher. It’s best to avoid any interaction with this number and promptly block it if you happen to get a call from them!

This marks the third time inside a week these lot have rang me. Just like others have said before, it was an Asian woman pretending to be an engineer from BT’s main office in London. She claimed there was a virus on my PC and wanted to get in remotely to fix it. Of course I didn’t give her a chance near my computer. I just chatted with her for about five minutes until she gave up and ended the call. Definitely a scam, so don’t fall for any of it. If you can, put a block on that number.

Got calls non stop from someone saying they're from BT, totally a scam so I stopped answering and just switched on my voicemail. So tired of these annoying calls! Don’t share any details with them, it’s dodgy.

I keep receiving calls from this number incessantly. I've ended up blocking it, so I no longer engage in conversation, yet it still seems to ring through. How can we put a stop to this annoyance?

I had the same thing happen and contacted BT about it. They ended up blocking that number from ringing our phone again. If you get a call like this, my tip is don’t share any info or send cash. Make sure to tell your internet company right away! And funny enough, when they asked me for my IP address, I just played dumb - they had no clue what it was! Let’s knock these scammers right off!

Got a call from someone saying they were with BT, but their English was really rough and sounded like they were from India or Pakistan. I tried calling back on 1571, but it wasn’t a BT number when I looked it up on Google. Definitely a scam, so I blocked the number straight away!

A mate just got a call from someone saying they were from BT, trying to sort out his internet by phone since engineers apparently couldn't come out to check the line. Told him straight away, BT wouldn’t ring like that. Looks like a total scam to me. Best to just ignore these calls!

Got a classic BT scam call, bloke said his name was Kevin Williams and told me to ring him back on 02034027880. He was really pushy about calling him straight away. Weirdly, he rang me again just a minute afterwards.

Somebody pretending to be from BT tried to con me. I’ve blocked the number now, but BT really ought to crack down on this since these scammers are abusing their good name to trick folks!

WARNING - SCAM ALERT!!!! Got a call from this number saying they were from BT, saying my internet was at risk. They wanted me to open the command prompt to 'check' my IP and other info, then they asked for the Event Viewer too. I played along but didn't give them a single thing. I actually run internet security classes at a local community centre, so I wanted to see how these con artists operate to better prepare my students. Honestly, if anyone rings you up saying your PC isn’t safe online, just hang up straight away and don’t let them talk you into anything. Stay safe, everyone!

Got a call on my mobile from someone claiming to be BT, seemed like it might be from India. I told them to ring me back but only on my landline, which I gave them as the number for UK Action Fraud. Hoping they got a shock when they tried to call that one!

Got loads of calls from people saying they were BT tech support, saying my PC had a virus. Problem is, I’m not even with BT! They wanted me to do stuff on my computer, but I played along and asked them to tell me my IP address. Obviously, they had no clue. Total con artists. Best to just hang up, or have a bit of fun by asking them “How exactly do you know my computer’s infected?” They can’t answer because unless they know your IP, they’ve got no idea. Only your internet provider could see that info.

I can't believe these lot had the nerve to ring me up AGAIN, even after I caught them out a few months back for being scammers. It was about some supposed BT internet security problem, and they were dead keen to swipe my bank info. Just so you know, I reported it to BT ages ago, about 4 months back, and they told me flat out they never call customers about these internet security matters. Stay sharp, folks.
