I’ve just experienced a similar phone call myself. The moment I expressed my doubts about their identity and the purpose of their call, they promptly ended the conversation. What a bunch of con artists!

Got a call that looked like BT but it was just some scammers from India who keep pestering UK numbers. They said they were tech support from BT and claimed my computer and BT router had viruses. They pointed to some normal event viewer logs to "show" infections, which was rubbish. It's just a trick to rip you off, nick your bank info, and mess up your PC. Stay clear of these fraudsters!

tried calling back 1471 but no number shown, just the area code, not sure what to do now.

Everyday at 09, I get calls from a blocked number. I checked it out here but no one replies or tells you anything. I always look up the number on this site to see what's going on.

The phone rang, and when I picked up, I was met with silence as they hung up.

There was a pause, then an automated voice just said bye. Definitely a scam call, I reckon. If you call them back, curious about some Urgent automated message you think you missed, they might hit you with a huge bill. Best to just ignore and not return the call.

Saw I missed a call from this number when I got back this morning. Had to look it up straight away and sure enough, it turned out to be a scam. Really handy website, cheers!

We received a call from this number earlier today. The individual on the line, who had a distinctly Indian accent, claimed to represent Open Reach and mentioned that they had detected an issue with our broadband speed. Apparently, it was running quite slowly, and he requested that we check our router and inform him of its lights’ colours. We approached this request with caution, suspecting it could be some sort of scam; however, being polite individuals, we didn't want to dismiss someone who might be legitimate. Then, he requested us to sit at our laptop, promising to provide a number for us to input. We responded that we couldn’t do that at the moment as we had to step out soon-an outright white lie. We’re savvy enough to understand never to grant a stranger remote access to our computer. At this juncture, his voice fell silent, though I could sense he was still on the line. Quite taken aback, I expressed my astonishment before hanging up.

I decided not to answer because we got a quiet call just a short while before. After that, I looked up the number here and saw it was what I thought.

there was definitely background noise and a pause, so i reckon it was someone's call centre. I just said hi, they replied hi, then we went back and forth with hellos a few times before they just ended the call. felt a bit dodgy tbh, and this site cleared up my suspicions.

Got a robocall from TalkTalk sayin' my internet was going off, then was told to press 4 or 2 to sort it. Didn't bother, just ended the call straight away.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from BT Openzone, threatening to cut off my broadband. When I called them out for being dodgy, they swore at me and hung up abruptly. The voice sounded Indian and the line was really crackly. Total scam, avoid at all costs!

The line goes quiet for a moment before abruptly saying "Goodbye". This has happened several times now. Clearly, it's some sort of dodgy scam call.

Got a call from an unknown number that kept ringing. When I finally answered, there was no one there and then a voice said “goodbye.” Seemed like some kind of automated message or recording. Very weird.

I've received multiple calls from this number, both in the morning and evening, but it's always silent on the other end. There’s just this awkward silence that drags on for too long.
