My mum who’s 70 got a call from a bloke with an Indian accent, claiming her Sky insurance had expired and needed sorting out. She told him she’d just renewed it, and he then said, “oh, so you’re with a private company then,” before hanging up. Honestly, I’d tell everyone to never hand over any bank or card info to calls like that - it’s definitely a scam.

Today I received a call from this number claiming that my Sky box insurance was about to be renewed automatically. I told them I never signed up for such insurance. Then I rang Sky and spoke to someone at their call centre, which I think might be in India. They asked me for my full account info, including my sort code, bank account number and even the long number on my bank card. Of course, I didn’t share any of these details. Afterwards, I found a complaint number for Sky and when I called, they said it’s apparently normal for them to ask for a sort code and last 3 digits of your bank account if you can’t provide your postcode. I was stunned by this. Who exactly was calling me? And how can I block these annoying calls?

I’m 84 and not very spry, got alot of these annoying calls. I always try to answer but when I get near the phone, the call just ends. One time I nearly tripped over trying to get to answer, and hurt my arm as a result. So frustrating!

Totally dodgy, these calls about Sky box warranties. Some bloke with a foreign accent asked if he could talk to the Sky account owner. I asked where he was ringing from, and he stalled a lot before saying he was from some tech firm. I just ended the call there.

someone rang me saying they were from sky offering a warranty for my sky hd box, said it would cost £90 which seemed a bit much. they were really insistent and wouldnt give me any details, so i just hung up. checked with sky myself and was told they only work with one company and its actually £65.00. just a heads up in case others get caught out, especially if they’re more trusting. i think the caller said their name was edigital or something like that.

Today, at around 10:36 on 15/12/15, I got a couple of calls from 02110000000. The last time they rang, the line just cut off after a few minutes. This number has been bugging me loads lately. Often, they say it’s about my Sky Box insurance needing payment, which is bizarre because I’ve never even owned a Sky Box! Usually, they hang up pretty quick when I call them out on it, but they don’t stop trying. I used to work for Sky, so I’m well aware this is a scam. Now that I’m disabled, it’s even more unsettling and makes me feel less safe at home.
