I had a similar experience, no doubt a scam.

The person on the other end had an Indian accent, and when I requested that they email the report they supposedly had to my registered address, they just kept repeating the same nonsense over and over. I eventually lost my patience, told them where to shove their call, and ended the conversation.

Received a phone call from someone purporting to be with the BT tech support team. He introduced himself as Jack and mentioned that my broadband was experiencing some issues. His accent was distinctly Indian. At that point, I decided to terminate the call.
