Claimed to be from Canta Kantar? Said it was some survey for Nationwide. I haven’t used this landline in like 9 months because of annoying calls like this. What freaked me out was it came just a day after I received my credit card limit increase and an email from Nationwide, so I'm thinking someone might be hacking either my email or Nationwide itself. The guy, David Budd, had a proper English name and pronunciation. Nationwide told me they NEVER send anyone to call as a survey.

Just wanted to see what folks think about this number and honestly, I'm laughing here. Yeah, they ring a bit too often but that’s just part of their job. The key thing is if you tell them to remove you from their list, that’s all it takes - they have to listen thanks to GDPR rules. This is a legit call for market research and totally above board. You can check that out yourself or ask someone who knows, not the maths boffin below haha, still chuckling at his take. So yeah, it’s a nuisance number but relax and simply ask them to stop calling or just block it. Easy!

From what I’ve gleaned from various comments, it seems this number belongs to a firm known as "Kantar". Interestingly, I too possess an Irish mobile number. They've been ringing me incessantly for over a month now, typically at least twice weekly, often around 8 in the evening or even later - quite odd for a survey or market research outfit, if you ask me! What puzzles me further is how they obtained my number, considering I've never participated in any online surveys and am quite meticulous about sharing my number. Just got another one of those silent hang-up calls from this number, fourth time since the 4th of October. If you or whoever’s behind it wants to know what I think, have a look at my previous comments - I’ve done some simple maths adding up how many times they’ve called, the lack of any proper ID, and the number of searches and messages, which clearly points to them being scammers. Leave a proper message with your name, company, and reason for calling, and maybe I’ll get back to you if I’m interested.

The tricky part is that some legit market research companies have cold callers who do a terrible job, worse than even the worst jobs you can imagine. Then there’s the proper scammers pretending to be from market research. It’s almost impossible to tell them apart. So, I usually just thank them politely but don’t give out any details. That’s very different from how I handle the calls that are obviously scams.

I have no clue who it was since they called while I was in the loo, but after checking the comments here, I see this number has called me before. They’ve rung twice before but never left a message. Looking through the comments and spotting the differences, I reckon the ones saying they’re legit and harmless were all posted together and likely by the scammers themselves. Be cautious and don’t give them any info. If you do end up talking to them, just tell them they’re scammers and hang up straight away.

I’m not bothered by British marketing firms since I don’t even live in the UK. Got a call saying it was from Nationwide building society. When I seemed unsure, they claimed their computer was acting up and they'd ring back tomorrow evening. I told them I’d be around, then they suddenly said it was fine. Bit fishy if you ask me.

Phoned my elderly relative, who's 90, and have since blocked this number through their free B.T. Call Protect feature. I regularly log into their account to review any dodgy calls every few days, then use Google to look up strange numbers. I’ve also saved all trusted numbers in their phone’s contacts, so they only pick up calls that show a known name. This way, the spam calls have dropped from about 5 a day to just 5 a month!! (Finally, B.T. has done something useful.)

They ring every day, claiming it’s a voluntary gov survey about businesses. When I say I’m not a business, they get all flustered and keep going anyway. Told them I’m not interested but they just kept talking. They’ve called twice since I hung up. Honestly, just a pain, gonna block them.

I just hung up straight away when they called, but my elderly mum got caught up cause they claimed it was BT and that her internet was going to be cut off, even tho she’d already paid for it. They did leave a message asking me to ring back on 08453001149. Didn’t bother calling them back.

They kept ringing non stop and just wouldn't accept a simple no thank you. Today alone they've tried 5 times. Told them I wasn't intrested and asked to be taken off their call list. Then the bloke just cut the phone straightaway!!

automated call --> greets you twice (picks up noise around) --> if you dont answer or say anything --> ends call --> tries again the next week or sometime later based on how many numbers they got collected

Got a call on my phone at 8.40pm tonight. Could tell it was a scam straight away, so I put my dogs on the line instead. They ended up hanging up pretty fast haha.

I had this caller who kept pushing to do a health and safety survey but never said which company they were with. They kept trying to get past our phone reception and refused to take our number off their calling list. Definitely not answering any more calls from them.

These people keep ringing my workplace non stop, it's driving me mad. I try blocking their number but it doesn't do any good. I wish there was a way to stop them from calling altogether. They claim they need to talk about health and safety, but when I say the person isn't in and ask if I can take a message, they say their lines don’t accept incoming calls, only outgoing ones. Honestly, that sounds pretty fishy to me.

Got a call around 7.30pm one night from someone claiming to be carrying out market research, asking which courses I was interested in. I told them I wasn’t interested and ended the call. Then, they rang back the next evening, but I didn’t answer.
