My phone flagged the incoming call as possible fraud, so I just hung up and blocked the number straight away. I’ve always thought 020 numbers are from London, and since nobody from there should be calling me, I wouldn’t have picked up anyway! After reading other people’s experiences, I’m relieved I didn’t answer. The HMRC scam has been going on for a long time now, and honestly, something really needs to be done about these calls. If the number’s withheld that’s different, but if the number is shown, surely they can trace who it belongs to when it’s reported?

This number rang me earlier and when I rang back to find out why, the bloke on the other end just read some dull script that didn’t seem to know anything about me. No matter what I asked, he just kept saying I had two choices: pay up or face legal action. It was so obvious it was a dodgy scam. When I challenged him to name my last few jobs, he just hung up on me. Total scam call! I even gave him a fake National Insurance number and he went along with it like it was right. 😂😂

Got a call from someone pretending to be from HM Revenue and Customs, but honestly, they sounded more like some weird impersonation of Donald Trump.
