At precisely 10:06 on the morning of Monday, 8th February 2021, my home phone began to ring. I took a quick peek at the number flashing across the caller ID and thought to myself, "That 0208 code rings a bell - it matches one I already added to my blocked list a fortnight ago!" Feeling rather cautious, I let the phone continue to ring until it was picked up by the voicemail system, at which moment, as I had anticipated, the call abruptly terminated. Looks like this one's joining the ranks of the 0208 numbers I've already shut out!

I got a call, and almost straight away, they put me through to someone claiming I’d been in a car crash with a dodgy South African accent (but you could tell they were actually Indian). I played along for about five minutes, and when they realised I wasn’t falling for it, they told me to buzz off and called me a daft woman lol. Honestly, don’t bother picking up unless you’re in the mood to mess with them like I did.

He never said his name but asked straight for me by name. It’s one of those ambulance-chasing scams where they claim they know you’ve been in an accident. It’s clever in a way, because if you haven’t, the call goes nowhere, but if you have, you’re more likely to believe it’s legit. I asked where they got my info from, and as soon as they figured I caught on it was a dodgy call, they just hung up and wouldn’t answer any more questions. The bloke on the phone sounded around 40, with a white South African accent.

this guy called sayin he was from ams with a strong south african accent, askin about some accident i supposedly had. he already had my name, phone and address. i just said id moved away, then he handed me over to someone called andrew from “legal assist” who ive actually talked to before on another dodgy number. i told him i never had any accident and to take me off their list.
