When I asked him, "Why are you ringing me?" he launched into a spiel about my neighbours in [Postcode] using some £500 voucher. I asked, "Aren't you meant to check the telephone preference list?" Got a call from some bloke claiming to be with 'Energy Solutions' saying he was calling from Bradford, 'somewhere in the UK' - which is hilarious cos the number started 020, so that was a dead giveaway. Even funnier, he actually had my full address which is kinda creepy. I always pretend I’m someone else and say I don’t live there. Seriously, who are these people and who’s paying them to do this? They really need to be put to an end!

Got a call at 3:15 pm on 6/7, some woman with an Asian accent asked for me by name. I’d seen this number before and knew it was dodgy, so I just hung up right away.

A woman rang my 91-year-old mum, who sadly believed it was a genuine call. I’m not clear on what info she might’ve shared since I wasn’t around, and my mum does get a bit mixed up sometimes. It’s a dreadful situation and now we have to watch and hope nothing bad comes of it. British Telecom seriously needs to step up and deal with these annoying calls. My mum gets loads of them and the phone companies just shrug it off, saying it can’t be controlled. What they really mean is they’re profiting from these dodgy firms.
