On the 23rd of November 2021, I got called again by the same bloke as before but this time he said his name was John. It’s the second call I've had in under a fortnight, same number, same spiel about being from Garmin and needing to access my computer to update the maps. Totally a con, so I just hung up straightaway. I’ve made sure to report it over to Garmin as well.

On 11/11/21 I got a call from a bloke claiming to be a Garmin engineer. He knew my first name and called himself Sam. This guy’s called me a couple of times already. I asked for his last name and he said Rodregis. I looked up the number online and it’s obviously a scam. Please, everyone, don’t answer, block the number straight away. Report it to the fraud team and also let Garmin know. It’s really risky ’cause they try to get access to your computer and steal all your personal stuff.

Someone claiming to be an engineer from Garmin called me, saying my GPS device needed an update since it hadn’t been done in ages. Seemed fishy to me, probably just a scam trying to trick me.

@ scamilt I made a right mess by clicking on [#]garminupdate.live and put my details in hoping for map updates. Next thing I know, a scammer was on the phone almost straight away, offering to sort it by remote access to my PC. I told him it was dodgy and ended the call. Dodged a bullet there. Steer clear of this number at all costs!

Had some bloke from abroad yakking on about my PC, and weirdly he knew my name. I just told him straight up, "What do you want?" but he kept banging on about the computer anyway. In the end, I just switched off my mobile and hung up. Who even are these people?

this guy called me claiming he worked for gps or something, said he had my name and my landline, which freaked me out a bit. he said because microsoft was moving from windows 10 to 11, my sz golf watch needed a software update. he then asked me to turn on my computer so he could do it for me. i told him i was tied up and that i'd ring back later, but no way i’m calling him back. watch out for this number, it seems dodgy.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Garmin about a required update. They managed to convince us the sat nav had been factory reset by a computer glitch. Watch out though, they actually took over our PC during the call. We’ve since blacklisted the number and reckon you should too.
