I had a rather unpleasant experience with this individual as they absconded with my funds. Exercise caution!

I received a call from someone claiming to be from Eon Customer Services, stating they were helping me with a refund of £291. I thought it was quite decent of them, but I pointed out that if they truly represented Eon, they should already have my payment information in their records to process a refund. He insisted he needed me to confirm my details again so he could sort the refund immediately. I reiterated that he was supposedly from Eon. He responded with, “Yes, I’m Gary.” Now, while Gary might've been his name, it raised a bit of a red flag when he struggled with its spelling. I mentioned that Eon's offices are practically just around the corner from where I live, and I’d pop in to resolve this “refund” matter face to face. Strangely enough, he insisted that it could only be handled over the phone right then and there. After a bit of a heated exchange, I decided to hang up and look into the number, which turned out to be a scam.
