I got a call from a woman speaking with a British accent, saying it was from Visa Direct, warning me that £600 had been withdrawn from my account in the last 15 minutes through Western Union. She told me to press 1 if I wanted help to stop the transaction. I just hung up, waited a few minutes, then checked the number by dialling 1471. It showed up. Not sure if all these calls come from the same spot, but the one I had definitely came from that number.

Every time they ring me the last four digits change so I go ahead and block it again, I've probably blocked like 50 different numbers by now, surely I'm getting near to blocking them all!!!

They sounded like they might be from an insurance firm, but once I said I hadn’t been in an accident, they just hung up on me. I tried ringing back to ask them to remove my details from their records, but now it seems like I’m blocked.

Make sure you’re registered with the TPS for both landlines and mobiles - it’s free and takes around a month to come into effect. 3. After that period, you should no longer get these calls.
